All of a sudden I'm having BSOD crashes on my custom built machine. It seems like they started Saturday night while I was out of the house. When I turned my computer on I got the menu saying it did not shut down correctly, how would you like to boot up. Since then it seems like every 90 minutes or so I get a BSOD. It's very consistent and it does not matter what I'm actually doing on the computer. I did not make any hardware changes. The only software change that I know of is a Windows Update that happened on Saturday while I was away. I've updated some drivers, and there was another Windows Update tonight which I was hoping would have fixed it, but no such luck. I uploaded my diagnostics file, and my system specs are in my profile. Please let me know if there's anything else I need to do. Thanks in advance for any help provided!

Hello, welcome to itsbacon! (Yummy!)

Your dump files read csrss.exe as cause of the BSOD. While it is a part of the Windows system, it could also be a trojan, so first and foremost, do a full scan with Malwarebytes free edition.
I am still further looking into the problem.

Thank you Alonso!

I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan. It found 3 bad files. I will attach the log. I deleted them and will run another full scan to see if they are gone. I probably won't be able to check to see if that fixed the problem or not until tomorrow night. Gotta get some sleep and will be at work all day tomorrow. Will check back in tomorrow night.

Thank you for looking at this and helping me out, it's greatly appreciated.

In addition please do the following:
If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
  • SSD firmware
  • BIOS Version
  • Chipset Drivers
  • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
  • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.
Perform a System File Check to check the integrity of all protected Windows 7:
  • Click Start Menu
  • Click All Programs
  • Click Accessories
  • Right click Command Prompt
  • Click Run as administrator
  • Type
  • Code:
    sfc /scannow
  • and press Enter
Full tutorial here:
Check your hard drive(s) for errors by running chkdsk
Number down items at start-up. Keep only your anti-virus, this also improves the time for logging into windows.
  • Click on the Start button
  • Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  • Select the “Startup” tab.
  • Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  • Apply > OK
  • Accept then restart.

Hi koolkat77,

I did everything outlined in your post, and I believe the problem was solved after updating the firmware on my SSD. I left the computer on overnight and when I came back it was still on this morning. I'm going to be power using the PC today, so I'll come back later in the day and mark it as solved if it is indeed fixed or ask for more help if I was mistaken.

Thanks for your help guys!
