BSOD happening more frequently. Pls help.

Hi. This problem has been going for about 2 months. I started shutting my pc down and it seemed to help matter, but in the last week it's really picked up. Sometimes my entire system freezes and then automatically reboots. Sometimes while in a game where crops fly around the screen, my screen goes black but has some very pretty colors going horizontally thru it. When that happens I'm forced to pull the plug on the system as it won't respond when I try to reboot via tower buttons. I am wondering if this is a video card issue or a motherboard issue? Earlier when this happened, I plugged my monitor into the motherboard and there wasn't a signal. Thanks.

Well you're getting a lot of RAM errors.

I can't do much analysis as its a minidump and the Page Table Entries aren't saved most of the time.

Its an Instruction Pointer misalignment which is caused by either drivers or RAM, in this case most likely RAM.

Which one should I download?

You have two options to choose from, you can either download the ISO version then burn it do a CD and boot it from there.
The other option is downloading the auto installer for USB sticks, you then boot from that USB stick.
Be warned though, it will format your USB then install the files needed to make it bootable so any files left over will be wiped off.

So how does it work?

It works by writing a series of test patterns to most memory addresses over 9 tests, it then reads the data back to compare it for errors.

The default pass does 9 different tests varying in access patterns and test data. A tenth pass is optional from the menu which writes all the memory in zeroes then sleeps for 90 minutes and compares it to see if any address have changed, this takes 3 hours per pass each time.

My memtest86 isn't booting! What should I do?

This can be caused by a number of different reasons, common ones include your BIOS not setting using the correct settings, you might want to change your boot priority order.
Other causes include your motherboard not supporting bootable USB sticks in which case you'll need to use a CD (or floppy drive).

Download the latest version, it depends how you're going to boot it, either USB or CD.
If USB then download the USB auto installer or CD download the ISO.

When I attempt to download, Malaware bytes goes nuts. I quarantined 6 or 7 things. Is there anything else we can try?

You should be able to stop it doing that, Memtest86+ is the best memory testing software, no other comes close.

What is scanning right now has a windows logo and the words "System Speedup" aside of it. It is scanning registry. Is this what I was supposed to d/l? I'm sorry.

I'm not following what you're saying...
System Speedup has nothing to do with Memtest86, it's bloatware, remove it.

You haven't provided the msinfo32 file which should be included with the dm log collector so I can't check what you have installed.

I used the dm log collector again. I checked the zip. I did see a system information file for msinfo32 in this new zip.

I'm afraid that if you want me to use that memo thingy I'll need a direct link to the download page. I'm downloading everything but that ... somehow.

There isn't anything bundled with that ISO so what did you download with sneakware in it?

Open with Windows Explorer, extract file, rightclick the ISO to burn to CD, boot CD to run at least 7 passes as well as the other tests to isolate problem RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Don't see it. If you can't select to Open it then in Downloads click on it to Open Folder, it should be highlighted. If not look for the ISO file.

You'd be better off selecting the Detail view from top right tab of Downloads folder to see the dates included. Set it as default view in Folder Options on Organize tab at left.

Are you wanting to run it from the OS rather than boot it from a disk? If you want an ISO to burn to disk you should use the file I linked you a few posts back and follow the specific steps I gave you.

When I try to install this is what I see. See how it says that I"m going to install something else yet the memtest 86 is there? You can see from the download file that the application says Memtest86. Is it me?

For the third time use the download I provided you from a clean link.

When you click to open it with Explorer it has the ISO ready to rightclick to burn to CD with WIndows Image Burner. You only may need to extract it first.

I get this file which opens the burner when I click on it:

You may still need to extract the file by rightclicking it and then If you don't have Windows Image Burner set as default, rightclick again on the extracted file to Burn with Windows Image Burner, or Send to Windows Image Burner.

This time I understood better. Thanks. Except naturally that didn't work out. I don't have a choice of which drive to use. It picks the dvd drive. I am unable to burn though. Unless I'm still doing something wrong. Wouldn't surprise me

You didn't extract the file.

I told you to open it in Explorer, not WinRAR. But go ahead and try extracting with that and then try burning the CD>

Becuz I don't know what I'm doing. It takes all this time to get back to you .. (reasonable time .. 30 mins etc) becuz in that entire time I'm trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing. I'll be working on extracting the file now.
