Hello,
I built my PC at the start of 2014 and have done many reinstalls of windows 7 for a variety of reasons and got the odd BSOD once in a while but was few and far between. However, in the last month or so I started to get BSOD a bit and in the past few days I seem to get it a lot. Today after work I have lost count of how many I have had, 10+ is just over 2 hours!
I have money set aside to buy either a new CPU and MOBO or a new GPU but I don't want to buy one and find out that it was the other that was faulty effectively leaving me in the same position I'm in now..
Using BlueScreenView I have noticed that ntoskrnl.exe, dxgkrnl.sys and dxgmms1.sys have been the most prominent to show up.
A while ago I had an issue with a game not working and the dev said my RAM could be faulty so I ran Memtest86+ overnight (10+ hours) cant remember how many passes bit it was quite a lot and it didn't pick up any errors.
My PC used to run very well is high-stress environments for hours on end ie; Flight sim games with a lot of addons and just last night I was playing GTA V PC on max settings for over 5 hours with no issue.
But the BSOD is getting worse, it crashes in chrome and even the desktop just after starting.
As far as I can tell, all my drivers are up to date. I could be wrong..
I am desperate to figure out what is wrong so I can fix/replace the trouble causer.
Thank you so much in advance for your help and time!
Aston.
