Hi ,

I have a Sony VAIO , I was recieving BSOD frequently from sometime, whenever I started my machine in Normal mode, and sometimes even in Safe Mode.

After that I formatted it with Assist Option in SONY so that it formats the machine , after that ,I updated antivirus too. I wasnt recieving BSOD for a day or two.
Then I installed only VLC and Google Chrome. now again I started recieving BSOD frequently in Normal Mode and in Safe mode. I dont know what is going wrong .

SONY VAIO

Model VPCEA45FG
1 yr 5 moths Old .
OS is Win 7 , 64 Bit
Recently formatted and loaded with Manufacturer image.

I have tried to analyse with BlueScreenView and it is showing two types of Exceptions,

1. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
2. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Please let me know if any more information is needed

Hello varuas11 and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm not a BSOD expert. Hopefully one will come by soon. In the meantime, I think that both the KMODE_EXCEPTION and IRQL could both be memory related. The first due to an unhandled access violation caused by an invalid memory location and the second that a kernel-mode process or driver attempted to access an incorrect location in memory. In other words, you may have a bad memory module (not seated correctly, failing, etc.) That would also explain why the problem wasn't corrected when you restored your Vaio to factory specs. The hardware doesn't get repaired by replacing the software.

One of our Forum experts prepared this troubleshooting guideline.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220165-troubleshooting-steps-windows-7-a.html

I'd try to rule out damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (Step 15, option two in the referenced tutorial.) If problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan. If SFC doesn't show any issues I'd try to rule out application/program conflicts by running a Clean Boot.

If software issues have been ruled out I'd next concentrate on the hardware issues by performing the various diagnostics recommended in the Troubleshooting Guide; check disk, memtest86+, overheating issues, etc.

Please post back if any of this helped or not.

I have a Vaio VPCEB47GM. About 6 months ago I also starting getting BSODs along with the KMODE_EXCEPTION and IRQL error messages (and many other error messages as well.) I had a bad RAM module. Not saying replacing the RAM will solve your issue but it might be a good place to start.
