BSOD - "ntkrnlmp.exe" and "ntoskrnl.exe" are coming up

Hello all, a friend was helping me to find out what this BSOD all of a sudden was from but he is out of the country now away on business.

We got the point of him looking at the crash files and us using WhoCrashed, and we found that the last handful of crashes I have are all caused by "ntkrnlmp.exe" and "ntoskrnl". We tried each of my parts in his computer's and they all worked fine. We also have tried running Memtest and he tested the Hard drive. One thing we did not do is try a different bios.

I have no idea how to fix this, my friend and the program say it is a software/driver issue. How would I go about fixing a BSOD that is being caused by "ntkrnlmp.exe and ntoskrnl"? (They are the only causes that show up). I am just now running the sevenforums program, will post it when its done.

The computer is running wonderful, except sometimes when I go away ill come back and the computer is shutdown (rather than sleep mode), then I get the BSOD system has had an issue thing. The last crash dumps have been the names above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Avira contributes to BSOD's, recommend to replace with Microsoft Security Essentials to see if it provides more stability. Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software

Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes are recommended from a strict BSOD perspective. They do not cause blue screens on the system as other AV products do.

DO NOT start the free trial of MalwareBytes, unselect that option when prompted.

Thanks alot Koolkat!
I have already done a memtest, it came up with no issues.

I will try everything else you listed and report back, cheers!

PS: Will I be ok if I just use Malwarebytes? I have that installed and use it, will it be ok to only run that and not another program like avira,etc..?

From filehippo:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware can detect and remove malware that even the most well known anti-virus and anti-malware applications fail to detect. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware monitors every process and stops malicious processes before they even start.

Where as MSE:
Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free download from Microsoft that is simple to install, easy to use, and always kept up to date so you can be assured your PC is protected by the latest technology. It's easy to tell if your PC is secure - when you're green, you're good. It's that simple.

Microsoft Security Essentials runs quietly and efficiently in the background so that you are free to use your Windows-based PC the way you want - without interruptions or long computer wait times.

So running just Malwarebytes is not enough.

Oh my I feel silly now haha, thank you very much for the kind help mam :)
MSE just finished updating and doing a scan and it says "No Threats were detected on your PC" and I also made it so I have barely anything starting with windows. Also checked for updates for few updates for programs I use with filehippo (what a site! Thanks for sending me that way). I will post again when I have finished a few other things. Once again thanks a ton for the kind help.
