Solved BSOD occasionally, freeze 1-2 times a day

Long history with this issue. My machine basically freezes, all video stays the same, audio stop and it just 'hangs' like that until I manually hold the power switch. This happens about 1 to 2 times a day, depending on how long it has been on. It is NOT heat related, as it can happen 1 minute into computer on time, or 10 hours later. I get a few BSODs here and there and they are attached in accompanying .zip. But the freezes are WAY more prevalent.

I have done MANY things to remedy, including clean driver installs, memory tests and everything I can think of. I am very technical, I am just looking for a 'glaring' finger on the nose kind of issue here. I just basically have not done a full OS re-install, as this is very arduous and difficult given my current setup and software.

I suspect my Video card, as there are similar posts of Zotac cards freezing a machine. I went through their tech support, and the tech said "there is no issue since it ran fine during a benchmark". Haha, I have never heard something so ridiculous in my life. I am a software developer with kernel experience (not enough to WinDbg and crash dump analysis) and responses like that make me discredit a company.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I ran that driver that was released in April 2013. I already have : the R271.exe installer installed. So I believe I am up to date, unless you have found a newer driver.

Be careful before saying it. See, your driver is 4 years old.
Code:

And that is what is causing the BSODs.

I can say upto this.

Thank you so much for the analysis. I must, however, inform you that I re-ran the Realtek High Definition Audio driver installer. The file to do such a step was '64bit_Vista_Win7_Win8_R271.exe'. This installer did not appear to replace the driver in question. The build timestamp of said driver still points to a 2009 date, seen in the image below. Possibly this driver is linked to another installer, or a historical remnant. Althought it must be linked and real-time loaded in order to gain execution and crash... so something is using it.

I cannot use Process Explorer to see who links in 'MBfilt64.sys', are you aware of another method to see who is executing this driver?

I would hope I have the technical acumen to update audio drivers before posting here |:^)

We may try. Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

  • Download and execute Driverview
  • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
  • Edit > Select all
  • File > Save Selected Items
  • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
  • Zip the .txt file and upload it.

Attaching Driverview results. I did some more searching and others have had similar issues... with no such remedy. I suspect this is even unrelated from the computer freezing issue..

SOLUTION: update the motherboard BIOS. I am not even sure how I could miss this step. But this fixed the freezing and blue screens of my graphics and audio cards. Again, a BIOS update for my mobo fixed this issue. Thanks.
