BSOD on brand new build BCCode 50. Windows 7 hm prem

Okay. So far I have:

-Replaced the Ram
-Uninstalled Norton AV

Niether has solved the problem. After I uninstalled Norton, I was prompted to restart, when I did I got the BSOD. I have attached the minidmp file. Blast you, BSOD. Blast.

I'm getting frustrated here. What could be the issue? This machine is only 6 days old!

THIS close to buying a Mac,

Russell.

This one was caused by Dnetr28ux.sys which is part of your dlink range boost software. i would re-install the wifi drivers.

let us know if you need help

Okay, Ken. I will try that. Do I even need the D link driver? Doesn't Windows 7 have a built in wifi driver? Thanks

If your having a problem with the item zigzag identified, I think that says that Windows probably didn't install the driver, or the driver got corrupted. If possible find the driver for the D-Link and install, or as zigzag said re-install.

Let us know how it goes.

@ zigzag, thanks for the help with the minidumps. I'm lost there

Win 7 may install the correct driver for you (isnt that a USB wifi card?), but it may not be the most current one. Also the win 7 driver might not have the same range boost as the D-link. Dont know but that is what hosed the computer

Yeah it's a USB wifi adapter. Should I uninstall the driver and then reload it from the disk that came with it? Or would it be better to load it from d-link's site?

Ken.
I'm pretty sure the issue is rooted in the wifi adaptor. I booted the machine with the adapter removed, and when I connected the adapter the machine immediately went BSOD.

For whatever reason I've had problems with this machine and getting a wifi adaptor that works with it. I originally bought a net gear PCI adapter and I couldn't successfully install the driver. Same thing with a USB adapter from linksys. I finally found this D-link adaptor that was able to load the software AND accept the device. Could it be an issue with the motherboard?

Attached is the dmp file from the BSOD that happened precisely when I connected the USB adapter.

Ken,
I emailed D-link support and they told me that there may be some sort of "resource conflict within the system", and that I should disable any unused parallel com ports as well as LAN cards. I did what they suggested and so far, so good. Everything has been running normally.

Thanks for your help.

Well if you are still fixed (and hope you are) I would check the red triangle to say the problem is solved

We are here to help.
