Howdy, I've just assembled a pc for a friend of mine, installed Windows 7 Ultimate, installed everything neccesary, and then when I was defragmenting the C drive with Deffraggler I got a stop screen and had to reboot. I attach here the minidump and a xml with all the info for this system (captured with Speccy, so I also attach a file for viewing it with it).

Thanks in advance, my reputation hangs on this :S

Ok.. I don't see why writing it here makes i any easier than viewin the attached xml file, but since you guys are helping me, here goes:

OS: MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit [full retail]
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 635
RAM: 2x 2GB OCZ DDR3
MOBO: MSI 785GM-P45 (MS-7623)
VIDEO: ATI Radeon HD 4200 (onboard)
HDD: WDC WD5000AAKS-00UU3A0 ATA Device

All tests report no problems, tho I'm unable to gather all the information requested in the sticky, as the PC has already left my domains and I won't be touching it again until tuesday or so.

PS: I've installed all updates now and error hasn't repeated itself when using Deffragler again -tho it did show some abherrant behavior- I'll check with the people at Piriform, but I would really appreciate if someone could read me the details of the dump, or -if you feel like teaching me how to fish- tell me what app or method can I use to see such information. Thanks.

Well since you can't get the jcgriff2 report, I went ahead and ran the dump file.

Update ESET to the latest version here: Best Free Antivirus Software Trial: Free Home, Business and Gaming Download from ESET

Install these ATI drivers: ATI Radeon

You want Option 2- Driver only.

If the problem persists, enable driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Wait for a few BSODs, and then upload the jcgriff2 report.

Alrigth, after some time, and certifiedly random BSODs, I dropped by my friend's house and also noticed that when you turn the PC on, the first 2 or 3 minutes windows behaves erratically, namely when you click on an icon instead of getting selected, it goes straight into the name editing mode, also, some key combinations don't work, like ctrl+c, tho ctr+v and ctrl+x work just fine, plus the right shift key won't work when combined with the 'd' key, it's very bizarre.
edit: this was just the keyboard it seems, Genius has let me down for the first time -the F2 key was jammed-.

But the main dish here is the random BSODs, so I ran the jcgriff2 report and perfmon. I also tried the Driver verifier, but it resulted on the system crashing after the windows logo, I've attached the dump file this generated just in case it helps.

Oh, I've also installed the latest Catalyst drivers, and discarded Nod32 as the problem -it *is* the latest version, and it gives no errors on my Server install-.

The biggest of thanks.

Your .dmp file is blaming usbfilter.sys as the cause of your crash... Your current version is 12-09, so you may already have the latest version, but since the AMD USB Filter Driver (likely part of the chipset drivers), you may want to check to see if there is an update for your chipset ... I have to stop by the owner's house to give him the driver updates and replace the faulty keyboard, but haven't been able to do so because of conflicting schedules and recent sickness.

Worry not, I'll update here to keep you guys posted ;)

UPDATE:

Leaving the issue with the faulty keyboard aside (wich was taken care of *a while* ago), I managed to update all drivers on the machine, and all seemed fine, but a couple of days after the owner told me the error kept on happening.
It appears that he leaves the computer on pretty much all day, and whe he eventually sits down he finds the computer has obviously rebooted -as in, everything he had open is now closed- and an error dialog that claims windows has recovered from a critical error is there, alone, just floating in the middle of the screen. What does he leave the computer on idle for such long hours wasting electricity? It seems he likes to stream online movies, and then watch them when they are fully loaded -since his internet connection ain't exactly the best-.
Right now, I have the said computer in my power, I've been using it 10 hours straight, streamed 4 movies without problem, ran the most stressfull benchmarks and tests I know SIMULTANEOUSLY and -leaving aside the momentary pseudo freeze the machine logically experienced when all 4 cores were at 100% usage and memory was at 98% (roughly 3.8GB/4GB used of physical RAM and 4GB/4GB cache)- the PC experienced no inestability what so ever, let alone blue screens nor reboots or any Windows failure! After stopping and closing everything the comp went back to normal and I haven't shut it down nor rebooted it ever since.

Now, I know my costumer -who happens to be a friend and a teacher- is not bullshitting me, but I've not only done exactly what he does, but also went as far as push this poor little computer so much I almost felt bad for it, and yet it behaves perfectly. So, I've come down to a theory: whatever it is i'ts causing the BSODs, it HAS to be environmental! Either his building's wire work sucks and there's way too much noise on the line, or his new puppy is licking the USB ports, or a neighbor is testing an homemade EMP bomb without taking proper precautions, or a worker died electrocuted when he was building his apartment; I don't know for sure.. but I'm inclined to think it's something along those lines..

Any further help will be highly appreciated, as well as you having taken the time to read this badly written rant.

PS: excuse if went poetic or dramatic at some point, I'm just in the dire need of some sleep.

See if he can move the computer to a different circuit; that may help with electrical noise problems.

Also, UPS may help if the power is unreliable.

Yeah I've already thought of possible ways of dealing with all the cases I'm theorizing might be the reality (even the bizarre ones); but I would like more than so, to be able to determine wich one is the case at hand.

FINAL UPDATE (hopefully):

Well my friends, I truly hope this is the last time I need to post on this particular thread, as it appears I've found the problem and corrected it. What was it you might ask? Well, it was a certainly hard to reproduce bug with the flash plugin on firefox, a manual update to the latest version -wich I wrongly assumed was already installed- seems to have corrected the problem.

So, until random events bring me to this place again, goodbye, and thanks.

I'm in so much pain..

Well, here I am again, the updating and patching only seemed to work, but after a while (a day) the random BSODs came back. So I sighed and just formatted the damned thing, and installed a new OS (Win7 Proffessional this time), installed all the latests versions of everything, give it back to the owner, who used it just fine for all 2 days, and then with monday arrived the blue plague once again.

So, at the end of my rope here, I present to you 2 more minidumps, hoping there's something helpfull in them this time.

So you are sending me back to square 1.. Except I hadn't noticed there's a SP1 for Win7.. I remember manually ordering it to check for updates and installing everything, but I'll check that first just in case.
