Solved BSOD on shutdown or restart, error 0x000009

I have a problem as my laptop crashes following a period of inactivity or when i try to shut it down. I get the BSOD. I tried to update the service pack (pack 1), but that also fails with the error, driver power state failure. I have tried to look at and understand the dump file following a BSOD and it appears there might be a problem with ntoskrnl.exe. I attach the dump file in the hope someone out there can make more sense of it than me. Any suggestions on how to rectify my problem. Incidentally, i have only recently loaded windows 7. Prior to that I was using Vista with few problems.:sarc:

Uninstall and clean avg from your system using the avgremoverx64

Download and install Microsoft security essentials


Update these old software\drivers

Update on BSOD

Sorry for the delay in responding. After spending many hours trying to update drivers etc I finally gave up and did a complete reload of Windows 7 updating with service packs etc before reloading other software and programs. Currently the laptop is working fine with no BSOD and shuts down OK. I therefore assume something was corrupt in the operating system, but do not know what or why. I haven't put AVG back on and am relying currently on Windows security. Are there known problems between AVG and Windows 7?
