BSoD on startup (at login screen or on desktop)

Hi,

My Toshiba Satellite A305 recently started blue screening out of nowhere (it is about 4 years old). It does it when I start up my computer. Sometimes it does it at the login screen, but if I login quickly enough it will do it while I am on my desktop. I am getting a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA blue screen. Will let me run computer in Safe Mode/Safe Mode With Networking. Please let me know how/if I can fix this. Files attached.

Norton tends to cause BSOD-s and several other issues. I would recommend uninstalling it with the Norton Removal Tool and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials To Test.

Make scans with the following:

-Kaspersky TDSSKiller

• Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller

-ESET online scanner

• Free Online Virus Scanner | ESET

In addition, run the malicious software removal tool and WDO:

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Perform a System File Check:

1. Click on the start rb:
2. Type CMD on Search
3. Left click and Run as Administrator
4. Type SFC /scannow

Reduce items at start-up. Nothing except anti-virus is required plus improves the time for logging in windows.

Thanks for helping, but I am stuck on the first step. The Norton Removal Tool won't remove it unless I first remove Symantec Antivirus, but it won't let me. Is there another tool I can use to get rid of this?

Try uninstalling in advanced mode using Revo uninstaller:

• Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

This still won't work. Because I can only run my computer in safe mode I can't access the Windows Installer Service. Are there any other options?

Well can you remove first remove Symantec and then try Norton?

I am trying to remove Symantec now so I can try the Norton Removal Tool (the tool won't let me remove norton until i remove Symantec), but I am also having troubles removing Symantec due to not being able to access windows installer in safe mode.
