BSOD On Startup error 0x0000001a

Hey Axe0

So far the CPU test has not failed, but I have cancelled it and I´ll kick it off later. What I have found are Intel blogs saying that the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (iastor.sys v8.9) was problematic and it was eventually replaced by the Intel Rapid Storage Technology as per link you sent on ealrier

However v14 version available did not install, and fell over with an error. I found another blog that redirected me Intel RST v9.6. This installed fine and no issues after a restart. I am just about to kick off driver verifier on iastor.sys and see if I get the BSOD. If that is fine after a few hours I´ll run verifier on all non MS drivers just to be sure

I´ll keep you posted but first and foremost have a good Friday!!!

I was already wondering if the driver was the Matrix or the Rapid since I don't know when Intel changed it.

 and of course you too a good friday

Cheers axe! Yeah it's an odd one and if the Rapid driver works i don't know why it is not listed on the acer and model page. Matrix v8 is the latest they have to download! Waut and see! Have a good one!!!!

Hi Axe0, just a quick update

No further BSOD´s on the iastor.sys driver after the upgrade to Intel RST

However, further testing thereafter targeting all non MS drivers, BSOD´s re-occured. On investigation it is the igdkmd32.sys driver which is associated with the Intel Chipset graphics driver that caused the latest BSOD

According to Acer and Intel site I have the latest driver. So I uninstalled it completely, restarted laptop, and installed the driver provided by Acer, same file, version, date etc as before

No further BSOD´s on the igdkmd32.sys file when targeted using verifier, and furthermore, verrifier was running against all non MS drivers for the last 4 hours and there have been no BSOD

I think I have done all I can here in relation to software and drivers. So I will put this to the test, leave the laptop cold for a few days, power up and see what happend.

I noticed andother thing the Acer does not wake up after sleep. Activity on the HDD, activity on keypress, but just a black screen. I´ve noticed this before, but paid more attention to the BSOD. I have for now disabled sleep mode on battery and mains, but let the screensaver kick in so the screen does not burn.

I will keep you posted towards the end of next week.

Cheers

Larry

Hi Axe0, Unfortunately BSODs again

I´ve reviewed some of the dumps to the best of my knowledge, and they are falling over on multiple sys files. This laptop is up to date, and all of the drivers too, I´m thinking this has to be hardware and I am going to start sourcing RAM, HDD, and MB. It may be cheaper for a new laptop!!!

Anyway, this laptop was perfect and fine running each day after I handed it back to my partner, but as before, it was left off for a day or two, power up and boom, BSOD

Would you mind running your eyes over the latest logs and dumps I have attached on the opening post and let me know your thoughts

Cheers

Larry

Noted. I'm going to start with a replacement HDD and hopefully rebuild this evening. After the post last night multiple bad sectors were found when i ran another scan. It says it repaired thrm and laptop is booting up fine this morning, but I've been at this point before where everything looks good

I cannot read the dumps.
This could be due to heavy hardware damage.
Please run every test below.

Diagnostics Tests

Read carefully before proceeding.

   Note
Test the system once the overclock is removed before continuing with the steps outlined below.

Part One: CPU Stress Test
Part Two: MemTest86+ RAM Diagnostic
Part Three: Hard Drive Diagnostics
Part Four: GPU Stress Test

ONE

 CPU TEST

Run Prime95 to stress test your CPU. Prime95 - Stress Test Your CPU - Windows 7 Help Forums

   Warning
Your CPU temperatures will rise quickly while under this stress test. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

TWO

 RAM TEST

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

THREE

 HDD TEST

Thank you Axe0. I'm going to start with HDD replacement as i sourced one here in work. I also have new RAM to test.

All the tests have already passed as mentioned in previous threads now that i have the laptop stable i say they will all pass again.

I should have the os installed on the new hdd and we'll see how we go

Thanks again for your time and input

Hi Axe0

Ok I had fun with this last night. Multiple BSODs on startup in Normal mode. Booted in safe mode and GPU software would not run as the graphics driver is not active

Given the BSOD i ran another HDD check which took an age, however no bad sectors found. Only then and after 6 hours of uptime in safe mode could I boot in normal mode.

I ran the GPU test for 45 minutes. No annormal temperature readings. The fan did not go into oversrive eithet but did a job and circulated air. This passed

The BSODs that occurred yesterday were page_fault_in_non_paged_area , memory_management & irql_not_less_or_equal

Given the memory_management bsod i kicked off another memtest86+. It had 6 successfull iterations by the time i left my house this morning. I'll leave it runnung throughout the day.

I'll target HDD replacement this evening. RAM next week should it fail, amd ultimately MB if both of those fail.

It's coming up to xmas so i say she is looking for a new one amd breaking this in purpose!!!!
