Hi all,

I've recently run into the dreaded BSOD - Page Fault in Non-Paged Area screen. Initially, it started randomly while I was copying some files over but now has escalated into always occurring every time when I start up.

Basically, windows will start up and get past the welcome screen so I can see my desktop. After a few seconds though, the BSOD will show up with the error code of: 0x00000050 (FFFFF8A00A966000, 0000000000000000, FFFFF80003597079, 0000000000000000)

I was wondering if anyone would assist in diagnosing what the issue may be and how to fix it. I have attached the dump files in this post and the specs of my machine is:

I5-750
4GB RAM
HD 6850 2GB
4 HDDS (120GB SSD, 1TB, 750GB, 500GB)
Windows 7 Ultimate

Edit: I've also performed memory tests but they do not show that anything is an issue there.

Edit 2.0: This is what shows up on safe mode.

What memory tests have you run? How many passes did you run them for?

Since you did not find any hardware related problems, I suspect the following:
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite	Public:Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite	Public
Start Menu\Programs\GIGABYTE\ET6	Public:Start Menu\Programs\GIGABYTE\ET6	Public
Start Menu\Programs\Utilities\EasyCleaner	RAWRZ\Julz:Start Menu\Programs\Utilities\EasyCleaner	RAWRZ\Julz
Start Menu\Programs\Video\MSI Afterburner	RAWRZ\Julz:Start Menu\Programs\Video\MSI Afterburner	RAWRZ\Julz
  • DaemonTools comes with a driver sptd.sys that is known to cause crashes.

  • EasyTune6 provides interfaces to the hardware for software based overclocking. Those interfaces can cause instability since software overclocking does not provide voltage changes necessary for overclocking to be stable.

  • 3rd party Windows 7 optimization software is not required for Windows 7. Windows 7 is already light weight, so stripping it down further by cleaning the registry and removing Windows features damages the OS beyond repair so that a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 is needed. This is the most likely scenario you are facing.

  • MSI Afterburner causes instability for the same reason as EasyTune6.

Ok. I've only just read your post now.

It appears the problem has been resolved simply by installing Windows SP1.

Though I suspect the installation of Windows SP1 perhaps may have overwritten some corrupted system file? Its difficult to tell... but my pc works 100% fine now.

Quite possible a corrupted Windows file was fixed by the installation of SP1. Could also have been one of the updates that provides more stability.

Either way, I am glad to see it solved!

I'm also quite glad to see it solved :)

What was also strange was that I searched in the forums and found a thread dealing with similar symptoms to my own and the actions prior were also the same. In this case, it was installing max payne 3... again the similarity with the resolution to the issue including the installation of SP1.

I'll keep that in mind with people having similar problems with Max Payne 3. Thank you for the info.
