BSOD playing American Truck Simulator error 0x124

I'm getting BSOD only in this game and DiRT Rally. It's incredible how i can run any other game but these just keep BSODing. What i did so far:

- Memtest86 until pass 5, no errors found
- Stress test on the GPU, no errors.
- Clean windows install.
- PSU values check, everything in range.
- Swipped memory stick slots, no dice.
- Cleaned all dust.
- Tried playing using 32 bit and 64 bit version of both games.
- Chkdsk, no errors.
- sfc /scannow

Please, i don't know what else to do. Every test/check i did came up just fine. Tried their foruns and aparrently i'm the only one having this problem since the game was released last week. They tried to help but they couldn't do much.

Test the volts of the PSU using HWInfo, download the correct version and open it. After you've opened it click Sensors-only and run. Now scroll down to the power section and screenshot the power section.

The stress test that i did before on GPU was with Furmark for around 3 hours. Temperatures were normal (80º C tops). Is it really necessary to run memtest86+ for 8 passes? It's not like i can afford to leave it running all day.

I attached the SS you've asked when running HW.

HWInfo seems alright. If you want you can leave MemTest86+ for the last thing to test, if all the other tests failed.

I ran all the test you suggested except memtest86+ since i'm getting new RAM sticks this week. These are the last couple crashes i had.
One of them has dump_ataport.sys highlighted in red on the bluescreen viewer, all others have only ntoskrnl.exe highlighted. Does that mean something?

Do still run MemTest86+, because there can be some DIMM slots failing, we never know.

It seems all crashes are the same, a generic time out on the bus.
However with the given description I wouldn't focus on the hardware but on the drivers and possible conflicting software.

I noticed Daemon tools is installed which is a known BSOD cause for various of crashes, I would strongly suggest to remove it.

Having said that I need to mention something else too.

You are running an Acer Product ID (PID) on an ASUS board.
This makes your installation counterfeit.
Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.

I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

As soon as i hear about Daemon Tools i removed it. That was before the last crash from the dump file i sent you. I just don't know if only unistalling will make sure all of its files are removed.

About the Acer thing, i'm not sure what that means. The only thing i know about Acer is their screens .


I ran CrystalDiskInfo earlier and there was this alert: [C6] Uncorrectable Sector Count:1. Since i haven't slept for 2 days trying to solve this i didn't look any further.

I should take a nap before trying anything else. Cheers.

It could be that the game is saved on a part of the disk where problems are present what would explain your description that you can play any other game but that one.

However do not ignore the piracy part, if that isn't cleared up than you can expect no more support from us as it is simply against the rules.
