Hey guys,

I finished building my PC yesterday and everything was going fine until it blue screened whilst playing CS:GO.. the game itself crashed and when i looked into my case my graphics card fans were off but the PC was still on and then the BSOD occured. Its happened a few times now and it could happen within 10 minutes or hours.. Ill post a gyazo of my build and a gyazo and details from 'BlueScreenView' so you can see whats happening :) i also downloaded the most recent graphics card driver so it wont be that!

Hello Jed, all of your dumps are, as you say, 0x116s which is a VIDEO_TDR_ERROR (Timeout Detection Recovery) which is pointing to a problem with your GPU. This could be a driver issue, overheating, power, a faulty card or a faulty PCI slot among other things. So a couple of steps to take to start troubleshooting.

1: Could you include your PSU in your system specs please, it's something we really could do with knowing.

2: Have you monitored temperatures of your card while under load? If not please do so and report them back.

3: Download an earlier ATI driver from here and save it to your desktop. Download DDU and follow http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/367109-display-driver-uninstaller-how-use.html to remove all traces of your current driver. Reboot and install the downloaded driver.

Hello mate the PSU is 'EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply'

As for the monitoring of temperatures and putting it under load, how could i do this? is there something i can download?

I will follow step 3 now! Thanks for the reply

EDIT: The driver page only gives me the option to download the most recent driver (7/8/2015) , any idea how to get an older version?

There are a few programs you can use to monitor temps mate, there' Speccy as linked in my sig, HWInfo, or you can use something like MSI Afterburner. To put the card under load you can run Furmark, instructions are below.

:ar: Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.
   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them, if the temperature continues to rise steadily once it has reached 80°C be prepared to stop the test so as to not damage your GPU.

Try here for earlier AMD drivers.

If you run Furmark there will be a temperature sensor towards the bottom left, that's what you need to watch when running Furmark. If it hits 80°C get ready to abort the test if it carries on up to 90°C rapidly.

Yeah or a hard lock, and to see if your GPU's temps are stable under load. If all is OK after 30 minutes or so you can stop the test, that will have ruled out overheating on the card.

Not sure if its good news or bad news but when the temp hit 80 (only took a few mins) my monitor screen went black and when i looked into the case the Graphics card fans were off, a few moments later they came back on and my monitor stayed black..

It looks like the card itself is the issue then. Reboot and uninstall the card via Device Manager, then power down and physically remove it from the machine. Check in the fans for any dust build up and clean it out with a soft brush or can of compressed air (hold the fan still whil d oing this so as not to damage the bearings). Then reseat the card ensuring it's fully seated and the power connections are fully secure. Reboot and install the driver of your choice, then leave the side of the PC and see if the fan spins. If it does run Furmark again keeping an eye on temperatures and the fan.

No stupid questions mate, if you don't know you don't know.

Right click on PC and click Properties. Click on Device Manager then expand Display Adapters. Right click on your GPU and click on Uninstall. You will lose your display on your monitor when you do this, obviously you've uninstalled your display adapter, just perform a hard power down by holding the power button in until the nachine turns off then remove and clean the GPU. Then refit it and reboot, Windows will detect the card and install the driver it finds, you can then install whichever driver you want.

Thanks for the help mate, there wasn't really any dust in the GPU but i fiddled about with the connections ensuring they were all secure, i have since rebooted the pc and reinstalled the driver and FurMark has been running for 10 minutes and is sitting around 77-79 (keeps going up and down) so there is definitely an improvement. Ill keep you updated with whether or not it reaches the 30 minute mark!

Thanks again mate

Yeah that looks a lot better. All seems stable. Just use the system normally now and see how it goes, it's possible something wasn't seated properly and that's corrected the issue. If you have any more trouble post back, we'll be here.

Awesome mate thanks a lot, i just came across a problem that isn't to do with the BSOD but i think i caused it messing with the drivers etc - When i plug my headset in now realtek recognizes it and says its connection and when i go to playback devices its there and says sound is coming through but there isn't, is there something i can do to get it back? i honestly have no idea whats gone wrong with it!
