BSOD playing games/streaming netflix multiple error codes

I can now no longer get to the desktop before it BSOD's.

Gotta be a memory/mobo thing. I guess I'll reinstall the OS and start testing the RAM sticks.

Let startup repair finish. I have seen it take a couple days to do so before, but hopefully you will not be waiting that long. Usually it takes between 15 minutes to two hours. I would recommend not interrupting it if at all possible as that can yield even more problems that would require another fresh install.

Was this with one module in? If so, try the other module, or try that module in a different slot.

No, I hadn't adjusted the modules. I just switched both sticks to there alternate sockets first. To see if it is a bad socket. If this goes bad, I'll start testing the sticks one by one.

I'm just gonna run stress tests and do my damnedest to make it crash. I'm not sure why the BSODing become exponential last night. I was doing the same damn thing, if anything less.

What bugs me is, if it never BSOD's again, with this new configuration, I don't know whether it was the RAM, or a bad socket. And if I'm trying to sell this computer I could be selling someone a time bomb, which I don't feel good about.

Okay. So, I selected one of the sticks and put them in the A1 socket. Turned on the computer and it wouldn't boot. No hard drive activity, no screen, nothing.

Swap the second stick in the same slot, boot's fine. I'm running updates and stress tests now trying to get it to crash, but do you think the signs I saw with that first stick confirms that one is just a bad egg?

What's curious is after 7 passes the memtest said both sticks passed.

Can your duplicate the same problem each time you use the other module in that slot? If so, that would be a very good indication that module is bad.

Memory failure, like any electronics failure, is rather finicky. Memtest86+ does not always catch errors because it only stresses the memory is certain ways. Windows stresses it in more ways and that is why sometimes memory related crashes occur even when Memtest86+ finds no errors. Sometimes, Memtest86+ also needs to be run for more passes to find errors; I have seen cases where it took up to 21 passes to find one error.

It won't even start with that module in the slot. I've been running the good stick in the slot for almost 24 hours playing diablo 3 and watching netflix with no trouble at all.

I think it's safe to declare it a bad memory stick? Huzzah?(!)

Sounds like a pretty definitive answer to the problem. You plan on contacting the company to get the RAM set replaced?

Security Software: ??? Make sure to install security software. I recommend either of these:

• Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows coupled with Malwarebytes. Do not start the free trial of Malwarebytes. Just use the standalone version, update it, and scan your computer once a week with Malwarebytes and with Microsoft Security Essentials.

After installing your security software, update it, and then run full scans today with each program. Report back the results of the scans.


Remove all ASUS utility programs. They can cause instability due to their interface with the hardware to provide overclocking through software.


Update your Lycosa.sys driver which is your Razer Tarantula Keyboard Driver. Having drivers out of date for such devices can cause instability of the system.



Download and install CPU-Z and Upload screenshots of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs. In the SPD tab, upload an image of each slot.

The CPU-Z photos. Ran the tests, all clear, all clean. Updated the drivers (couldn't find Ethernet but found LAN, same thing, right?)

I'm not sure what you mean by asus utility programs. I don't think I installed any. Were some detected?

Everything seemed fine until the EVE demo crashed my shit. Now... BSODs galore. I'm debating about reinstall the OS from scratch... but I'm not sure.

Have you tried stripping the system down and only running one RAM module? Your crashes all point to memory problems or drivers. Since Verifier has yielded no results in the past, I suspect the RAM module.

The only driver that may be an issue is your Razer Tarantula Keyboard Driver. I would also suggest trying a different keyboard and mouse combination since yours has out of date drivers that are likely to cause problems with that keyboard.
