According to the manual the computer should be okay up to 78C (assuming the fan correctly adjusts to the corresponding RPM) and the lowest critical temperature is 83C. However it also says "Throttling 0%" underneath the chart from which I got these numbers. And it turns out the version of Windows I have cannot be installed on this machine, so I haven't done that yet.

I meant, the version of windows that's on my boot disc cannot be installed on my computer (it's an older version, and it's 32-bit-- the installer on the boot disc wouldn't let me run it).

Also, playing music files seems to exacerbate the problem-- I've had 3 blue screens today (just had my 3rd) all while listening to music and browsing the internet (but the problem didn't seem to happen until I put the music on). This sounds promising, right? Watching videos/listening to music on youtube doesn't seem to cause any problems on its own.

Did you boot from the Disc and not the operating system, ie, set the computer to boot from CD in BIOS?

I booted from the disc first as per the instructions, but all I got was a window asking me if I wanted to install windows 7. Then when I tried to install it said I should boot my computer without the disc, insert the disc and install from there.

What do you think about the audio files causing crashes?

I dont think its the filles, but if your driver is not up to date you should do so. Old drivers are often the cause of this problem.
Im leaning toward Hardware under stress, however.

So I already ran a driver stress test, a memtest and scanned my hard drive. Is there a test I'm missing or one that I should do differently?

The prime95 test may show something. Set it up as though you did not do the memory test. It will be a second check.

So I'm running the prime95 torture test "Blend (tests some of everything, lots of RAM tested)". My computer feels hotter to the touch than the times when it bluescreened, and the test has been running for 16 hours now. I'll update you when it's been 24, but I somehow doubt it's going to pick anything up.

UPDATE: My computer crashed during the stress test! (Although I suppose we can't be sure the stress test is what caused it, as it seemed to happen unexpectantly before. I was not using my computer at the exact moment of the crash, however.)

The only thing contained in the results .txt file for the prime95 test was a list of passed tests (attached). Can you figure out what went wrong from that? Or did I not set up the log correctly?

That was not from the test. Try this final test, if not success, I will reexamine the thread again carefully and get back to you.

There are several different settings I can change-- do I want the burn-in test, a benchmark, full screen?

Burn in test is the most demanding. If you pass that your graphics are ok.
Set the screen to the same settings as your monitor.

I passed. Nothing wrong with my GPU apparently. (keep in mind some of my crashes occurred without games or other GPU-intensive programs running, and on my machine the GPU isn't used except when you run games or graphics-intensive programs-- I think it's safe to say the GPU isn't the problem)

I have given most of the applicable tests and still no fix. I began to review the thread. One of the opening threads presented your dmp reports. They were consistent showning acpi.sys. This is not the problem, it is a Microsoft Driver and is not really the cause of the problem.
ACPI works with the BIOS, so I checked the date of your BIOS and it is April 2012, I am sure that is the most current and no update is available.
The code given in all those reports are 9F, which means a driver problem.
We must have missed something. Working with an open mind, the Driver Verifier really should ascertain the problem, if it is not due to BIOS. Try the verifier test, again and then post the results of all the dump reports. As you work on the Verifier 36 hours, I will take my time and review the entire file with an open mind. If I cannot ascertain the problem, I will call for reinforcements.

You dont set the time. You leave it installed for 36 hours.

Just use it as you normally do. The verifier pust stress on the drivers and the weak ones will BSOD

So I hibernated my computer this morning and when i came back and booted up it said that windows had shutdown unexpectantly (would I like to boot in safe mode, etc, etc...)

Other than that, the driver verifier hasn't seemed to do much except slow down my computer. Does this get us anywhere? (latest diagnostic attached)

You need to use it longer, about 36 hours. The reason that the computer is not working right is because the verifier is putting all the drivers under stress.
