BSOD playing Left 4 Dead

This computer has had BSOD problems for a long time. I'm not sure if they are all related. I removed a problematic stick of memory about a year ago and that seemed to do the trick. Over the last month I've had a couple BSODs or complete lockups where I lose all responsiveness and the video freezes.

Lately the BSODs have been occurring while playing Left 4 Dead on steam. Right before the BSOD or lock up the video will scramble.

Thanks,

Nick

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
Invalid system memory was referenced. This cannot be protected by try-except,
it must be protected by a Probe. Typically the address is just plain bad or it
is pointing at freed memory.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffffa801395e5f0, memory referenced.
Arg2: 0000000000000001, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation.
Arg3: fffff80002e0d783, If non-zero, the instruction address which referenced the bad memory
    address.
Arg4: 0000000000000002, (reserved)

Your BIOS and Video card need to be updated

Also, since DirectX is referenced (even though I think this most likely isn't the culprit) so lets just make sure everything is ok with it
Run DirectX Diagnostic Tool

If for some reason, updating everything doesn't help, run Memtest86+ for at least 8 passes or if you receive ANY errors. If you receive any error, stop the test because either your Memory or memory controller is bad

Report back with the results.
