Solved BSOD Random on brand new laptop 0x0000001E

Hi, I'm having a random BSOD problem (error 0x0000001E) with my 2 week old Lenovo W520. I posted yesterday but my post and membership disappeared today. The only thing that I have done to this laptop is upgrade the memory from 8GB to 32GB, however this BSOD problem existed before I changed out the RAM. I ran the windows memory check and nothing turned up from that. I'm running AVG antivirus, Zonealarm Firewall and Malwarebytes once a week. All my windows and Lenovo updates are current as far as I know. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Because of the server crash

We had a small server crash,so we continue\start from here.


Remove avg from your system.


Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials with windows firewall enable.



Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html
Let it run until at least 9 passes are completed, or errors are found (whichever comes first). The longer you run it, the better.



Finish with the above steps and post back with results\news.

I'll do that, are zone alarm and malwarebytes ok to keep on my system?

Installing and using 2 or more A.V. in the same system you dont have double protection but you have double problems.

In your minidumps analysis i can see both avg and zone alarm.

Remove avg.


Remove zone alarm.


Remove\clean all the a.v. from your system.


For real time protection keep only Microsoft Security Essentials with windows firewall enable.

You may need to run it 2-3 times to "fix" everything.

I followed all your steps and so far no problems! I ran the memtest twice; first time for 14 hrs and got 2 passes, the second time I ran it for 22 hrs and got 4 passes no errors. Hopefully the problem is solved!
