BSOD random times, even on clean re-install

Hi,

I was getting random BSODs (for ex, playing games, file transfers, watching movies on browser stream etc). I did the uninstalls of some programs, updated some drivers etc, but it did not help. I unplugged D drive (as I ran out of space and had to install some stuff in D drive, and I thought it was a problem writing to that drive) - still issues. So I thought maybe issue with C drive, and I bought a bigger SSD for C and imaged from older C drive and still BSODs.

I got fed up and took backup of all that I needed (several BSODs when doing that). Then I did a clean install and I am still getting BSODs.

Gave the pc to a local shop and he swears that he did not get any BSODs and ran tests on everything and it all checks out fine. I only gave my CPU to him for test. The only things different are the monitor, keyboard and mouse that were left home.

Please help as I am at my wits end with this.

Hello and welcome Gus mate there is nothing that really sticks out in the dumps and can you follow this please as your specs are fairly limited
Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this System Info - See Your System Specs
or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you don’t know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.

Hi ICIT2LOL - thanks for taking a stab at this.

I ran the system info tool and updated my profile. Is that all you need or do you need anything more?

Ok Gus - I am assuming your name is that because of the PC name in the dump files but please let me know if you would prefer some other way of addressing you.

Now I see from the specs that you have some components that are a little more heavy duty than a basic machine and again thta is why we need to know the specs because one can tell a lot from that info.

The dumps themselves my friend are not really popping up anything very obvious and so it is just a matter of working through the machine and system to get a little more specific.
So could we pleas start by running these if you haven't already

NB If anyone who has Kaspersky as their security they may find it will not like ADW running and to stop the nagging just temporarily disbale the Kaspersky while one runs ADW

The sfc is said often best left to run for three consecutive runs

Can you also follow this and post back a screenshot of the section from PART A: as I personally like to know the status of the PSU

Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info https://www.hwinfo.com/download.php < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/- (minimum - correct - maximum)
12v1 = 11.4 - 12 - 12.6v
12v2 = 11.4 - 12- 12.6v
5v = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 – 3 – 3.465v
-12v = -10.80 - -12 - -13.20v
+5VSB = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
The Power good signal voltage at pin 8 on the 24 pin plug (grey cable) should be the same as the 5v rail reading/s
See this for the rail voltage info
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-specifications-atx-reference,3061.html (Section 2.)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

Lets see what the volts are on the PSU before we go any further and I am assuming you used the original OEM media for the clean install and if you did - did you just format the drive or clean it with the DISKPART command because it is my view that formatting alone is not good enough and why I always use a clean on the drive before I use it again for an install .

Hi,

-Ran the sfc and chkdsk (both when system was up and on boot). They do not show any issues. See screenshots.

-Ran superantispyware and malwarebytes. It found some proxygate goldclick thing, that I was able to remove with the same tools.

- Installed hw info. Not sure how to get to the power part as you described. Attached screenshot of what I see. Please guide. Thanks.

Ok sorry I didn't know my pic had not attached and well to find that power section in the shot you have sent you need to scroll up or down until you get to a section that usually says "motherboard" as in the pic I have sent now. Now Different boards have different titles for this motherboard section as you will see in the pic it isn't really relevant what is that we can see the rail voltages in this section.
