BSOD Random Times Followed by Power Cycle before POST

Hi All,

I've been dealing with BSOD's for a while and have never been able to find the cause. Sometimes the computer will BSOD and restart fine and run for a little while and BSOD again. Sometimes it will BSOD and then refuse to start, just power cycling before the BIOS screen even comes up.

To fix this I usually wait 24 hours or I've realized I can remove one stick of RAM and that also tends to fix it. I can add the RAM back later and it will work again for a while until the next BSOD.

Other times it will run for days no problem.

I also tried running verifier as instructed on this site and the computer would BSOD on boot for wdf01000.sys. The other BSOD s typically had an error regarding IRQ, but lately it's been different things I can't recall the new errors just that they're no longer IRQ.

I've tried testing the memory with Memtest so I think it could be the motherboard, but I'd like to confirm with some people who know more than me before I go through the whole hassle of RMA'ing it.

Attached is the required info for BSOD posts. Thanks for any help!

Hello wheyed and welcome to 7forums! :)

One of the most recent BSODs that are available, though this is almost a month ago, was caused by netio.sys which is the driver for the network card, so please head on over to Gigabyte Support download page and install everything that you find about internet, also the WiFi drivers:
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z77N-WIFI (rev. 1.0)

There was another one caused by the Bitlocker Drive Encryption Driver, are you by any chance using it?

Also there would be a BIOS update, you are at F2 and the latest one is F3 which will improve system stability, not sure if you should take it down. But maybe we'll just start with the above!

Cheers, Boris :)

Thanks for the reply Boris!

From what I can tell all of my network drivers are up to date. I've gone to each of the manufacturers websites and downloaded the latest drivers. They all say they're up to date when I try to install, however the dates and versions in device manager are way off from what's listed on the websites, is this typical?

I don't use that Bitdefender feature but that may have been caused when I upgraded to the latest version. I'll research if it's possible to disable that module of the software completely.

Finally I upgraded my BIOS as recommended.

I'll follow up if I get any additional blue screens, thanks for your help!

Hi wheyed.

Hmm, about the network drivers, I mean if the installer says that everything is up to date then I'll have to look deeper into what it might have been.

You might have misunderstood about one thing, the Bitlocker isn't part of Bitdefender, rather a data protection feature available Windows Server 2008 R2 and in some editions of Windows 7.

But yeah no problem, I'm happy to help if you need anything just ask!

Cheers, Boris :)

I can double check all the network drivers today after work.

You're right I did misread that. I don't use that either and will take a look at making sure it's not enabled anywhere.

However since updating the bios there hasn't been any issues. Typically I'll wake up and it will have restarted over night so that's a good sign. If nothing happens in the next week I'd be pretty confident that solved the issue.

Well, everything was running fine for over a month at least. Then the blue screens started again. They're now to the point where I can't use the computer at all.

Any next steps I should take?
