BSOD -Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers

At start up I am getting the blue screen which says "remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers"

I did take out the hard drive and connected it to another computer using a sata to usb cable, but the drive was not recognized so I put the hard drive back.

Now when I am unable to boot up. It is a windows 7 64bit.

My laptop is a windows 7 64bit. I removed the hard drive and connected to my PC using a SATA to USB cable in order to recover some deleted files, however I was not able to as my PC did not show the drive in My Computer, it came up in disk management but I did not want to do anything that may risk loosing my files, so I disconnected and put in back in my laptop.....now when I boot up I get the BSOD error that you see in the image below..

Go into BIOS under boot options and see if the hard drive is recognized.

I believe I know what the problem may be. Before removing the hard drive I was trying to connect an external seagate hard drive but the laptop will not recognize it even though my pc did. So I copied the disk.sys and partmgr.sys files from the system32\drivers\ directory in my pc and replaced the ones on my laptop....

How/where can I download the correct version of disk.sys and partmgr.sys for my laptop?

They come from the installation disk and/or from Windows Update. However, as far as I know, they should be the same. You can try to Restore your computer to a previous time http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html . Use Option 2. Do you have the Windows Installation Disk?
