Im new to the forums, so if im not following forum rules feel free to correct me.

Ive tried reading a bit, and im getting that my black sceen problem is fairly common and that i can have several reasons.

Now, for more details: Ive had my computer for 2,5 years. 2 months back i decided to install an 120 gb SSD drive for my system disk and upgrade to win 7. After the upgrade and install I was all smiles as the performance boost from the SSD was all it was cracked up to be and more. Then  struck after approx 6 weeks as the comp would not wake up after hibernating. The mouse cursor was visible, but nothing on the screen. Restart didnt help, and starting in safetymode gave the same result.

As i actually have good back up in place ( yey me) i didnt bother much about it and went ahead and did a system format and clean install. That worked great for a total of 10 days and it happened again.

Ive once again reinstalled, but as it annoys me to the brink of throwing my comp off the porch id like to find the source of the problem.

A relevant issue may be that ive had a bit of problems with my cabled network connection since the upgrade. Every now and then it loses connection to the cabled network and jumps to the WLAN. When i tell it to repair it works and it says that an IP conflict has been fixed.

Ive gathered from what ive read in the forums that error dumps and logs are essential. Obv i dont have any due to format. Also I guess hardware specs is important. Ive ran Belarc advisor and updated my specs as best I can. If i need to attach any reports or specs id appreciate guidance on how to.

Sort of a long post, but wanted to provide the background.

You were very specific in your specs thanks for that, I don't see any note of bios updates applied.
Asus has quite a few of them one apparently to address a display initialization issue.
When updating the bios you only need the most recent. Make sure you know how to use the EZ flash feature of the asus board to. It's the best way to flash a bios I know of.

Also are you using the marvell ports or the intel ports to plug in the ssd?

Wow. Thats a pretty fast response. Loving the forums.

As for the bios it says: BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 1613 12/03/2008. The website you link to tells me there a two newer versions. I checked out EZ flash 2 on youtube and will upgrade the bios now.

As for your question about what ports used to plug in the SSD drive i fall short on knowledge. All i can tell you is that there is a cable running from the SSD to what i belive is the motherboard. (Circuit board laying flat against the side of the case). Sorry for the lack of knowledge.

Edit: Bios now upgraded to newest version.

That looks very much like my motherboard. In the lower left corner there are six red, one white and one orange slots. The SSD is in one of the reds. (Top right corner red slot, if it matters).

Just for good measure i should mention that i also have to more regular harddrives, also connected to the red slots.

Again - Thanks for this.

okay the two that are different colors on the end can't have anything but hdd's plugged into them. no cd/dvd
Other than that you shouldn't have limitation there.

It's really odd you know, this is the first ssd I have seen that didn't have any firmware updates for it, and people have been asking for them to solve a couple of problems.

Ive read a few other threads on bsod on theese forums and therefore updated all drivers that was not newest version.

So whats my bet now? Wait it out and see if the bios and other updates did the trick?

Also...if this comes down to my SSD being faulty the shop is getting a loud message. My specific request was a system ssd to run win7 on. I even read from the Belarc analysis to the guy yo make sure it was compatible.

It wouldn't be their fault ssd's are still relatively new and yours is the first one I've seen that didn't have a firmware update.
So it's doubtful it's the problem.

At this point we wait and see if it crashes again, and if it does post the newest minidump file.
Or if you are in a hurry you can probably force it to crash with driver verifier.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html
(Please read all instructions for driver verifier before using as it's possible it will make the machine behave badly and you need to know how to undo it.)

Ok, so we're back with similar crashes. As it reads in the OP i did a clean reinstall after last crash. Yesterday i had a few problems with the computer freezing. Today i once again got only a black screen and my cursor after waking tha machine up from hibernation. Diffrence this time is that it worked after reboot. Still - obviously something is not right.

This time i an however armed with the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app repport. File is attached. I did also run the system health report, but as it came out in Norwegian i dont post it.

BTW: It might be relevant that my computer prompted me to run a checkdisk during reboot after the bsod today.

As always - happy to provide whatever more info needed.

Still no minidump file but I did notice your error log is being spammed by a pnpdriver message.
Are there any marks or icons next to any of the items in your device manager?

Wow. This crap will see no end. New bug this morning.

I left the comp on last night going to sleep. I wake up today and the monitors wont give signal. Not even through bios. The machine starts, and i can hear the windows welcome sound, but black screens.

As for the bugging device i dont get to check it now, with black screens, but im pretty sure thats a plugged in cardreader that i havent bothered to install drivers for. I removed it.

As for minidump file i cant find any. Referring to another thread i searched entire c drive for *.dmp with no hits.

Im considering pouring a bottle of water into the comp. That way ill now why it dont work.

Tried disconnecting the ssd. Still no image on monitors. Tried disconn both my other harddrives. No image. Am i having a hardware error? Hard blaming drivers or system at all for not getting image even on start up, right?
