Solved BSOD right after laptop was resuming from sleep/hibernation

Hi!

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CS35GN. It came pre-installed with Vista 32 bit, but I am now using a licensed institutional version of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. There’s only one OS.

The laptop recently has a had a problem with cooling. If i was playing videos/ or even if the laptop was on for a few hours otherwise, it was shutting down immediately. But I did not get any BSODs then. I subsequently got it cleaned with a blower. But even then I had used it for a couple days after that without any BSOD.

Today, just a while back after i resumed it from sleep, it suddenly crased and showed the blue screen.

I have uploaded the SF tool report. Please let me know if you guys require anything else.

Usual causes:  Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus,  Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS

Install Service Pack 1:

Service Pack 1 has provided many security and stability updates for Windows 7, which would be highly beneficial for your system.

2. Type: cmd > Right-Click > Run As Adminstrator
3. Type this command: systeminfo.exe>C:\systeminfo.txt

Remove:

Start Menu\Programs\Probit Software
Start Menu\Programs\Probit Software\Easy Driver Pro

These driver updating programs are problematic, and often install incorrect or unstable drivers.

Reduce the number of programs at startup, to avoid any driver or program conflicts:

I had installed SP1 once earlier when i had a BSOD problem. If i remember correctly it did not help matters.
The driver software was also a previous recommendation from here.
I do use msconfig from time to time to keep any eye on the startup programs, so not too many extra programs.

Please install Service Pack 1 for the reasons outlined above, although it may not be the exact cause, it will improve stability and most importantly security of your system.

Have you removed the highlighted programs? Have you reduced the number of program at Start-Up?

Since you are recommending SP1 so strongly i will install it.
I have removed the Probit/Easy Driver Pro software. Was a dicey one. The uninstall link from the start menu was actually starting the program. Had to go to Program Files to uninstall it.

I had EXACTLY the same problem recently. My computer refused to boot up after being left in Hibernation. [I'd started using Hibernate as a convenience routinely. Not anymore!] I tried EVERYTHING suggested - Hiren's Boot CD, Spomau (totally useless - got my $ back) & even a pricey tech service ($150) to 'help walk me through how to boot the computer'. (we worked for five different evenings and they didn't do anything I hadn't already tried. They refused to give me my $ back). Worked w/SevenForums & other help sites. Nada. I even pulled my laptop's HDD & tried to slave it to another computer & it took that one over! I was dead lucky the 2nd system restored after I pulled the laptop's HDD. (40 bucks wasted for the conversion kit) I think I wasted over 200 bucks & 60 hours in over a month's time trying everything to get my computer to boot up.

I finally did what I should've done from the start. I took it to our local computer shop about 1 mile away. (NOT the 'Geek Squad'. They wanted $400 just to 'try' to save my files.) Took this nice young man -no lie- two minutes to overcome the BSOD & gain access to my files. Then came the really BIG surprise...my 150GB HDD wasn't. As I watched him start to open up my system I was blown away to find a whole 2nd computer hiding inside my system! Jarrod says this is something he's seen several times in recent months. It seems even 'brand new' computers may have been altered before you take it home/have it delivered. (Do you always check out your drive to make sure it has all the space it should or do you assume like I did space was being taken up by the OS & programs? I know I'm gonna check more carefully from now on!) It makes me wonder why some vendors insist on loading software for us (free) even though most of us can easily install these ourselves?

My cleaned & restored unit now boasts a whopping 270GB HDD, 8GB RAM & it's running at a 4.5 vs the 1.3 performance rating as before the BSOD.

This wonderful young immigrant not only saved 90% of my files he put in new RAM (he said it wasn't a very good set) and changed me to a 64bit Windows OS (I had 32bit prior to the BSOD). The cost?

$80.00. Seriously. He insisted saving the files was fully automated so all he had to do was start the program and go work on other units. Changing the RAM took about 5 more minutes. He found 3 active malware (missed entirely by Norton 360) and a fully operational 2nd system being used by someone else.

I've changed ALL my passwords and no longer use Hibernate except for having to answer the phone etc. I shut off my Wireless connection anytime I'm not actively surfing. I have DoNotTrackMe and MaskMe installed to keep others from snooping in. These are some of the BEST free software I've ever encountered & my new best friend in the computer shop highly recommends all his customers use these.

You won't need Java at start-up and the Realtek Voice Manager either if you don't use it, what is the Intel entries for?

After installing Service Pack 1 and the other updates, complete this step:

Run Driver Verifier to scan for any corrupted drivers which may be causing problems, this program works by running various stress tests on drivers, in order to produce a BSOD which will locate the driver; run for least 24 hours:

@Logikal: Now from where do i manage to get hold of someone like that??

@BlueRobot: I will remove Java then. The RealTek thing is probably related to my laptop's soundcard/speakers. I'm not sure, but i'll remove them and see what happens.
Another thing is that since you suspect it is a driver issue, i recently got an Action Center message saying:
" Your memory card reader is missing a driver. An update is available that solves this problem. "
It provided a link to the Sony website, but when i tried to install that driver it said something like 'This update is not meant for use with your computer model'.
Is this important?

Try this page, the drivers you were being prompted for, are most likely for Vista which had pre-installed beforehand, the page I posted should be for Windows 7 Professional 32-bit:

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, the drivers are there. Let us know if you have any other problems. I understand that VistaKing posted the drivers, but let's make sure one more time.

That's strange, does the error message have a code?

Check Device Manager:

1. Start rb:
2. Type: Device Manager
3. View > Show Hidden Devices
4. Check for :warn: triangles
5. Click the Device

Post the codes of the :warn: triangles.

Yes, there seems to be two drivers which aren't installed, have you contacted Sony about the missing drivers? One of the drivers seems to be linked to your PCI bus.

My machine was preloaded with Vista. So the only support the Sony service center provides are the drivers/software patches on their website.
SFC ran fine. Check screenshot.
