Hey essenbe, thanks for the reply.

I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Direct Touch 4 Heatpipe Heatsink.

When I'm idling, or doing some minor computer work the temps are between 30 and 40 (right now it's 37) and I went three seconds into the prime95 test and stopped because the temps were scaring me.

I've also uninstalled (hopefully) Asus AI Suite with the cleaning utility you linked me to

How high did temps get in Prime? The temps should go pretty high. That's what stress tests do.

They immediately jumped to 75, and then went up about a degree a second to 82 before I stopped it

Do you think you need to repaste and reinstall the CPU Cooler? They shouldn't get that high that fast. That is a pretty hot running CPU you have, But with that cooler and not overclocked, I wouldn't think they would be that high, that quick.

It's definitely a little odd. I do still have thermal paste, however how do I clean the old thermal paste off? Rubbing alcohol? And I really don't know. I know when I did the initial build my temps were beautiful and low with the cooler. This is a more recent problem

We'll need to just wait, I think. But, I would suggest keeping a close watch on your CPU temps.

So unfortunately, I got another blue screen of death again today. Just running a matlab script and it crashed.

What are your CPU and GPU temps? What case and case fans do you have? If you are overclocking anything, set everything to default levels. List in your system specs the Case, PSU and CPU cooler as well as what fans are on the CPU cooler. Get a can of compressed air and clean out all of the dust from any dust filters, fans and radiators you have. Disconnect all USB devices from your computer except the Keyboard and mouse.

CPU Fan is a 120mm PWM fan

GPU Temp: 28
CPU Temp: 34

I dedusted all the things (Really wasn't that much dust. I cleared out the dust filters though) and unplugged everything except my keyboard and mouse. I haven't ever overclocked, nor am I planning on doing so until my system is stable again, however for the sake of covering all bases I set my BIOS to the default values.

Sure thing! I updated them accordingly. I also got another BSOD when I was off at work.... My CPU is also still under manufacturers warranty since I haven't overclocked it. Would that be an option if it is in fact the CPU?

Some things you may have already tried, I just want you to try them one more time. Run a full scan with Security essentials and another with Malwarebytes. Next, run these online Virus Scanners:

Please run Furmark again, keeping a close watch on the GPU temps. Watch them as they rise and wait until they have completely leveled out. Also watch for artifacts. Also, please don't use speedfan. Please run Ungine Heaven, you'll like it more than Furmark. On the set up. set it as I will show you below. Again, always watch your temps and stop any test if the temps get too high. Once you have the setup as below, click run. You will get another screen, it will take a minute to load. As soon as it begins to move, press Benchmark in the upper left corner. Also, run Checkdisk on it http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

Check and make sure your SSD Firmware is up to date.

Also, go into BIOS and tell me the values of the +12V, +5V and +3.3V.

next after these tests I am going to want you to rum Prime95. Just keep me apprised of the progress you are making. There is no hurry, do them whenever you have time.

My brain for some reason forgot that I had speccy installed and decided speedfan would be a good option. I'll be using speccy from now on.

Thanks for the understanding with regards to time. Full time schooling for engineering takes a toll!

I'm going to lock and leave my computer with ESET running and be back to do the Furmark and Unigine tests after lecture.

When you say "run checkdisk on it" after running SeaTools, I'm assuming the diskcheck is for the SSD?

Edit 1: ESET came back clean, Furmark GPU temp levelled out at 78C, no artifacts.
Unigine Heaven also went well, max temp was 70 and you were right! I like it much more than furmark

I'll be running the SeaTools and DiskCheck tonight after work.

Just run check disk on the Mechanical drive. Some people say it can damage an SSD. I have 13 SSDs and have run it on them and it has never hurt any of mine.

My HDDs passed SMART tests, Short Drive Self Tests, and Short Generic Tests.

HDDs also passed chkdsk tests.

I've updated the firmware for my SSD and here are the values requested
+3.3V = +3.392V
+5V = +5.160V
+12V = +12.192V

Time to run Prime95 again?

Gotta love how random they are. Working on highly intensive matrix calculations in matlab? No problem! Watching youtube or surfing the web? Nope, sorry can't do that. Here's a STOP 124 error...
