Early this morning (while I was asleep) my computer (WIn7 Pro 32-bit) experienced a UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f) error, reboot, minidump, and full dump. The only applications that are active (without user input) overnight are Firefox (I have a NOAA radar image running and auto-updating), Thunderbird, and BOINC SETI (to use unused cycles). I am not sure for what to search in the minidump or full dump.

Windows 7 doesn't require any programs which make changes to the operating system and registry, these programs tend to cause problems by modifying and deleting files.
Windows is a closed source system. Developers of registry cleaners do not have the core code of Windows 7 and are not working on definitive information, but rather they are going on past knowledge and experience. Automatic cleaners will usually have to do some guesswork.

Modifying registry keys incorrectly can cause Windows instability, or make Windows unbootable. No registry cleaner is completely safe and the potential is ever present to cause more problems than they claim to fix.

Registry cleaners cannot distinguish between good and bad. If you run a registry cleaner, it will delete all those keys which are obsolete and sitting idle; but in reality, those keys may well be needed by some programs or windows at a later time.

Windows 7 is much more efficient at managing the registry than previous Windows versions. If you run any other registry cleaner and do not know precisely what you are doing, you will have problems down the road. There are no gains to be had from using a registry cleaner and the risk is great.

Code:

Running multiple real-time protection programs can cause serious conflicts and crashes. Please note this program does cause BSODs.

I am confused. That Intel URL told me:

Product Detected Intel(R) 82566DC Gigabit Network Connection
Current Driver Installed 9.13.4.10
This device is unknown or unsupported. Please contact the manufacturer for possible updates. More information>>

I did many searches on the Intel web site for e1e6032.sys, and I found that the latest version is 9.16.10.0. I tried a Win 7 install, and nothing was installed because nothing fit. The Intel site says that e1e6032.sys is for my controller (82566DC) but for Vista and Server 2008 32-bit. I tried to install a Vista driver set, and it installed. But it did not update e1e6032.sys. When I looked at the properties of e1e6032.sys, it shows 9.13.4.10 and a 7/13/2009 date. When I then go to the Intel auto-search utility, it shows me that e1e6032.sys is now at 9.16.10.0 . This confuses me. Note that I did not reboot after the driver install, and a search of the \Windows directory shows all copies of e1e6032.sys with the 2009 date. A Google search for "e1e6032.sys" showed versions that I could download, but they were LATER than 9.6.10.0, and I am not sure that trust a driver download from "any old" web site. I will reboot now.

That's strange, and don't download any drivers from any other website apart from the manufacturer or your motherboard support page. What's it like after reboot?

My Computer

Computer type
Laptop
After the reboot:

\Windows\system32\Drivers\e1e6032.sys 7/13/2009 5:02PM 207kb

The Intel driver page Intel® Driver Update Utility for wired networking shows (after I run the applet):

Product Detected Intel(R) 82566DC Gigabit Network Connection
Current Driver Installed 9.16.10.0
This device is unknown or unsupported. Please contact the manufacturer for possible updates. More information>>

I am sure that it said 9.13.4.10 before I did any installs this morning.

The driver file:

e1e6232.sys 9.16.10.0 10/30/2012 4:22AM 227KB

I believe that this 6232 file is the one used by Windows 7, and the auto-detect utility finds it.

What I do not understand (and I do not know the internals of Windows 7), is how e1e6032.sys is implicated in the dump, when that driver is supposedly not used in Windows 7. I would like to upgrade that driver file to the latest version mentioned on the Intel web site, but I have found no way to download that file from Intel. I downloaded DriverVIew from Nir Sofer, and that utility's output lists e1e6232.sys but not e1e6032.sys .

I also do not understand why the Intel auto-detect applet claims that the device is unknown or unsupported. I did write a lengthy comment on the Intel web site, and I included my name and e-mail address. I have no idea if Intel will contact me.

Did you upgrade to Windows 7 or install Windows 7?

Have you tried your motherboard support page?

Hopefully Intel will contact you.

This was a fresh install of Windows 7 Profressional 32-bit. I never do an upgrade install because 1) I want to preserve my old system in case something happens, and 2) where I used to work, the Windows support staff said that upgrade installs are risky.

My motherboard is an Intel DP965LT.

Some questions and comments. Intel says that my board does not have Win 7 support, but other posts on SevenForums say that there is no problem with that board and Win 7. Intel has not responded to my query about drivers, and when I tried to ask a question on the Intel support page, the box was one line long, and it did not accept more than about 150 characters, so I could not ask a detailed technical question.

When I use a utility such as UpdateMyDrivers to see if there are newer versions of the drivers I have installed, I see reference to Intel drivers 9.3.1.1009 (9/11/2012), and my drivers are 6.1.7601.17514 (6/21/2006). I can do Google searches and find many sites that have the 9.3.1.1009 drivers for download, but I cannot find those drivers on the Intel web site, so I have no idea if those 1009 drivers are genuine. And, as I mentioned in a previous post, the Intel driver identifier tool says that my devices are "unknown or unsupported". 19 of my 24 outdated drivers (according to UpdateMyDrivers) are Intel.

What does it say in Device Manager, any :warn: triangles?

EDIT: Have you tried a Vista version of the driver?

First thing you need to do is update your BIOS which is at MQ96510J.86A.1715 to MQ96510J.86A.1761

You can see from the release note that there are hell lot of updates

Second update the Chipset driver... as you haven't installed the PCI Communication driver

Thirdly download the 32bit Vista version of your Lan drivers from here and reinstall the it.

Fourthly reboot your system and run Autoruns and then click on File> Save.. Save the file in .arn format and upload here. Will have a look

I will update the BIOS when I get a chance. About the PCI Communicaton Driver - I will look at the URL in your reply. When I go to the Intel download site, I can download Win 7 versions of the drivers, but I cannot download Vista versions, as Intel says that I am not running Vista. And I could not find on the Intel web site a place to download a later version of the Vista driver that was implicated in the dump. I will have a further reply when I have followed the hyperlinks in your two replies. And it is my policy not to make two changes at once; I wait between changes so that if something goes wrong, I know what change might have caused it. When I was working with IBM mainframes, we made two big changes on one day, and a problem arose. I took about a month to determine what was happening. I spent a lot of time looking at the source changes in both components, but I never found the culprit.

Install the Windows 7 version chipset driver, and then install the Vista version of the LAN driver.

I just updated the BIOS, so I will hold off on further updates for at least 24 hours. I am not sure what you mean when you write, "Install the Windows 7 version chipset driver, and then install the Vista version of the LAN driver." I believe that my version of the chipset driver is up-to-date, as far as Intel is concerned. From the URL https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=2374&DwnldID=10884&lang=eng&iid=dc_rss I downloaded INF_allOS_9.1.2.1008_PV.exe . When I ran it (I had run it earlier), I saw the output:

"Please wait while the following setup files are extracted:"

Then a message window"

The computer currently contains software version 8.4.0.1017, which is newer than the version you are about to install. Are you sure you want to overwrite the current software with the older version 9.1.2.1008?

I replied "NO", and the install process ended. I have no idea if anything was installed; I also do not know what driver(s) would have been back-level if I had replied "YES". The install process terminated right after I replied "NO", so I do not
know if that reply terminated all of the installs, There was no output was to what was happening during the installs except for the initial list of files that were being extracted from the install package. I would like to install the latest version of e1e6032.sys, the Intel Ethernet driver for Vista, but I do not know where to get an official Intel version. My Win 7 version, e1e6232.sys, is up-to-date. Other than that, I have no idea what other Intel drivers I have installed are back-level. The UpdateMyDrivers software points to "9.3.1.1009 (9/11/2012)" and says that my installed version is "6.1.7601.17514 (06/21/2006)". This is for a number of system devices. One problem I have is this - the UMD software lists, for example, "Intel(R) ICHB Family SMBus Controller - 283E", but it does not tell me what is the name of the driver file. And, as I have written earlier, I am not sure where to find the 9.3.1.1009 driver files on the Intel website.

As is the case with much software these days, the authors assume that the end-user knows what is happening, and therefore the software does not give enough information to the end-user. I have experienced many Windows pop-up error windows where I have no idea what process produced the error window. The author assumes that his/her software is the only thing running, so the error message will easily be matched to the software.

For god sake stop using "UpdateMyDriver" software... each divers have specific function and features for particular manufacturers. they are not always the same. uninstall them .

Update using the link provided in the previous post.

I am not sure to what link you are referring. There are a number of hyperlinks in previous replies. I am NOT using UpdateMyDrivers to do anything other than scan my drivers and (I hope) give me an accurate report as to which drivers need to be updated. Do you know of such a tool that I can use?

And, as additional information - I have experienced two seemingly random different BSODs in the past few days:

(50) PFN_LIST_CORRUPT (4e) [Saturday evening]

EXCEPTION_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 - The instruction at 0x%08lx referenced memory at 0x%08lx. The memory could not be %s. [Sunday evening a few hours after I updated the BIOS]

Could you please upload the new BSODs with the same SF_Diagnostic Tool as before?

I would personally never recommend using any driver update programs, even for checking for driver updates, from my understanding, the only method they could use to check for any updates, is to check the timestamps of your drivers and then compare it to their own database of drivers.

I have just uploaded a new SF zip file. On Monday I experienced a BSOD "EXCEPTION_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005".

Yesterday, I experienced a BSOD "bugcheck (8e)", and the system would not reboot. I had to restore from a restore point created Monday by Windiws Update.

Then, after I left the computer last night I had another "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a)" BSOD.

Run Driver Verifier to scan for any corrupted drivers which may be causing problems, this program works by running various stress tests on drivers, in order to produce a BSOD which will locate the driver; run for least 24 hours:

Enable the Special Pool option too, it will be listed under "Select Individual Settings" or something similar to that; enable all the options apart from Low Resources Simulation.
