Hey, so I received the BSOD a few times about a week ago, but I wasn't aware at the time that that's what I was receiving. The reason being is because each time I seen it I would freak out and turn the power off on my tower before I could get a good look at what was actually going on. And because the first time it happened everything just sort of froze up similar to the way it does sometimes when the tower just needs to be blowed out. So naturally I went and blew it out and a week later it is doing the same thing. I knew that couldn't be right, so I checked it this time and it was the BSOD informing me that it was *collecting data for a crash dump*.

I have no experience with this at all, so I thought I would come here preemptively to try and get some info before I lose everything. So any advice would be helpful?

*I'll post the Zip file I'm supposed to post in the comments section.

You need to be a little more patient.

There also aren't any dump files in your upload, if you are using a cleaning program or disk cleanup stop using it.

There aren't any .dmp file in your attachment. These are required to analyse the BSOD.

Follow these steps:

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

Then, when the system next BSOD's, follow this:

1. Download this file to your desktop or other convenient location,

Download

2. Double click on the file to run it.

3. Locate the .ZIP file created on your desktop, and upload it here in your next reply.

Someone will be along when they can, it may take a bit so just be patient.

I already did that. A zip file was downloaded to my desktop and then I uploaded here in this thread. I'm not sure why it is empty. Let me look. . .

Here is a snip of my opened zip file. It's not empty, but I don't see anything labeled dump files either. I followed the tutorial, so I don't know why there wouldn't be any dump files included.

Okay, so I'm assuming I need a complete memory dump.

It doesn't give the option for a complete memory dump, so I guess I'll try the kernel memory dump instead.

I followed the tutorial which shows how to create a complete dump file. Whenever I clicked okay the computer didn't automatically restart nor was I prompted to restart. I tried the initial BDOS tutorial for uploading .dmp files again, but I noticed on the black screen there was a note that said "The system cannot find the file specified." I may try to restart and try it again to see if the system can find the file.

Nope, restarting didn't help. The system still doesn't recognize the file specified.

Hey, Guys. I was recently receiving some help on this forum from a member who goes by Slartybart. He was helping me manually remove malware as I have been having trouble keeping an internet connection (via a wireless connection) and last night while I was watching Netflix I received another BSOD. I immediately turned the machine off and left a comment on my other thread informing Slartybart about the BSOD incident. He suggested that I post here again to see if I can get some assistance with the BSOD problem prior to resorting to wiping my machine. Any help would be appreciated. But if it comes down to it I could just go ahead and wipe it. Thanks.

What a member needs to see can be posted by following Option One - to use the DM log collector ...in this tutorial
http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Without that information, there's really not much help anyone can provide for a BSOD issue.

It's fairly easy, Download the DM log collector, run it and post the zip file it creates.
I looked at the zip file you posted 3 weeks ago (post# 13) and there isn't a dump file in it.

Let's see what gets put in the zip file after the most recent BSOD. It might only be an application crash that you're experiencing, not a BSOD. If the dump is there, the DM log collector should find it and package it into the zip file. There aren't any other steps you have to do at this point, just collect the data and post the zip. Let's see what you get.

If it's just an application crash, then you can either run the Malware guide I posted in the other thread, or decide if you want to re-install.

Hi, I recently changed out my router and the connection problem was taken care of, but this evening whenever I went to "wake my computer" I received a message 'The last attempt to restore the computer from its previous location failed.' Should I delete the restoration data or what should I do?
