I built a pc to run as a server on my network, and have installed Win 7 RC 32 bit. The windows install was to a clean HD, and has twice reported a BSOD and restarted. The second minidump is attached. I tried, but have been unable to read the minidump using the windows debug tools; I keep getting a symbols error even though I've installed the symbols files and told windbg where they are.

ASUS A7N8X-X mobo
AMD Athlon XP 1.9 Ghz
1.5 GB ram
3ware PCI IDE raid 5
Realtek AC97 audio (on mobo)
Geforece 6600 video

Any help appreciated.

You're right this dump isnt going to be much help. the faulting file is ntoskrnl but since it paged out of memory the rest is missing.

Are you overclocking? Is there a raid attached?

You can try to narrow it down by going into event viewer and working your way back to when this started to happen. If there is an error around that time see what the event ID and source are

Ken: Thanks for the response.

I've done some more research and I think it may be that the crashes are because my Nvidia chiposet (Nforce2) is not supported by Win7 or Vista. Since Nforce2 handles memory, ethernet, sound, etc., there could be multiple issues. I tried looking through the event viewer around the time of the previously-posted minidump, but there was nothing out of the ordinary - there was a long gap between the last event and the events noted at re-boot following the BSOD.

I attach another more recent minidump, but am thinking now that I have to swap out this mobo because it is effectively obsolete for this purpose. Is there any hope based on this minidump?

ps. no overclock, though I do have a 3ware PATA card doing RAID 5 active.
