I have tried contacting TC Electronic and posted on their forums, to no avail so far, so I am hoping people here can help me.

I recently purchased the TC Desktop Konnekt 6 (mic/instrument preamp audio interface) and every time I connect it to my laptop via firewire, it crashes my computer shortly after. I have updated all of my drivers (including my firewire driver), I installed the latest version of TC Near (the interface program, allegedly compatible with Win7 64-bit), tried using a power strip AND direct wall socket for the power supply, reformatting my HDD, scanned for viruses etc, made sure TC Near was formatted correctly for the hardware I was connecting... I don't know what else to do.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Dell Studio 1555, 4 GB memory, Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.10 GHz. I will attach a picture of one of the many BSoD's I have received, although the stop error code is always 0x10D, parameter 1 always being 05 or 08, from the ones I have seen. Also attached are the three most recent minidumps.

Also, for the few minutes between connecting the firewire and crashing, in my Devices & Printers display, the TC Near/Konnekt 6 are listed under "Unspecified" instead of under Devices. This is my first audio interface I have ever used, so I am not sure of that is unusual or another sign of a problem. The Konnekt 6 uses a 6-pin connection, and my laptop uses a 4-pin 1394 firewire port -- I bought the proper cable by Belkin at Best Buy.

Apparently the Konnekt 6 (and other audio interfaces) have trouble with Win7, especially 64-bit, and I have looked around the TC forums but no one seems to have the exact same problem as I do, so any help here would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

All three of these were caused by your firewire driver. I would download and install a fresh copy.

Hello !!

The Dump files are indeed pointing to TCNear.sys do you try one of thing mentioned in TC Forums

Greetings,

I also facted the issue with my Konnekt at x64 OS (Windows 7 Pro, Konnekt 6, laptop Dell Studio 1745 with built-in IEEE1394). BSOD didn't exist in FL Studio, Adobe Audition, Ceremony Melodyne (I'm using TC Near Asio). BSOD appeard in Winamp during everyday-work. I found a temporary solution (the same trick like old 32-bit drivers for XP/Vista running at Windows 7 before official Win7 drivers release).

In Device Manager: find your FireWire controller and update driver.
Select manual installation (pick up from the list) and replace standard IEEE1394 driver onto OCHI - LEGACY. The legacy driver works fine with no BSOD activity

I haven't tested audio recording, 'cause I don't use to recording... but it works fine with 192/24 with no performance loss. If you are still facting the BSOD at Win7 x64, try to replace FireWire driver onto "legacy". I hope it temporary help you to prevent BSODs until this issue is unsolved by TC at official x64 drivers.

Respectful,
Zbigniew Wyrwich

- Captain

Switching it to the legacy driver worked! I must have missed that post somewhere. Thanks for your swift responses. You guys rock :)
