Solved BSOD When using Chrome or playing CS:GO

I decided to not use chrome for a bit, I loaded my firefox, updated it, disabled every add-on except flash, opened a tab, closed a tab, then closed firefox and got a blue screen. I'm not sure what the deal is, but if I'm going to bsod 5+ times a day I might consider reinstalling windows...

Firefox instant crash on startup, started vent, bsod while launching Ragnarok, restarted and Firefox works fine, the bsod seems pretty random.

Also when I try to accept an attachment from my friend on Skype it crashes, could be related, or not, but I just wanted to throw that out there.

When I right-click an image and try to save it to my computer chrome crashes.

I'm going to restart my computer and see if this resolves those minor problems.

Restarting my computer fixed those minor issues.

My friend running a similar card suggested I get 301.42 drivers since those were working for him, what shall you suggest I do?

Edit: Re-installed cs:go today, joined a match and game crashed, and as windows was reporting the error I got a blue screen.

Another blue screen when steam was installing direct x for cs:go, when I got kicked to my desktop I got this weird message on the bottom-right of my screen...I'll attach it. Wanted to delete a file but Windows explorer kept crashing then after a few crashes comes a blue screen.

When i restarted my computer it was not there, and I can re-assure you that my Windows copy is indeed Genuine and legit. Perhaps I have a virus I do not know about that my anti virus Microsoft Security Essentials is not detecting? I've been getting a lot of cs:go problems as well as blue screens even when not running any games.

I feel as if I should just system restore to the point before all these blue screens were happening, or re-upload another log file for you to look at, or try another driver, honestly I don't know what to do right now besides re-installing Windows, this is a pain.

I turned off my microsoft security essentials temporarily to run malwarebytes and then superantispyware then closed those and turned microsoft security essentials back on, I don't think it's a virus, if it is could it be a rootkit? I've gotten maybe 6-7 blue screens since your last reply, I'm just going to be patient here until there is another solution.

Perhaps I should disable windows error reporting? Windows Explorer kept crashing until I restarted my computer after a blue screen earlier today.

Bsod after loading chrome and switching a tab, MSE crashes and asks for a restart, it could be from my other antivirus that i just installed but ive disabled to run it on start up as well as its real time protection and made sure its exited from the taskbar.

Bsod tonight after I launch chrome and flash stops responding, I have a couple YouTube tabs open and I go to pause them as they automatically load, this seems to be a more probable cause.

sounds like it was originally caused by a race condition - often the result of installing a lot of updates, or an overactive AV.

If it happens again, run the MGADiag while the notification is showing, and see if it captures the problem (it has some limited fix capability, so may just fix the problem instead)

Yeah I haven't seen the message since, it only happened once, and I always keep my Windows up-to-date. As far as the AV, I don't think MSE is too aggressive, maybe it happened when I installed Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, but I made sure only 1 had real-time scanning on and disabled them on startup/exited the application before running other scans.

I'm glad that was a temporary issue, because I'm 100% sure my Windows copy is legit, but how do I go about my constant 10+ bsods a day? or shall I wait for Arc's response? Thanks for being patient with me guys.

Steam is troublesome. Always. But the BSOD is not showing anything more.

Enable Driver Verifier for one more time.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

DV Results

I've noticed Windows Error Reporting takes a while, would it be a good idea to disable this so I don't get so many reports? I played osu for a few hours and got a bluescreen, not really a graphics intensive game, I haven't tried DV with CS:GO or any other game, so i'll disable it.

I actually got a blue screen before DV when I enabled it but I didn't choose to restart, but this blue screen I uploaded is after I enabled DV.

Edit: I forgot to mention this time steam didn't automatically log me in when windows started rather it asked for my log in info. Also I'll run DV until it blue screens and automatically restarts, I've already deleted the settings so it should be off when I restart.

Since you think this is steam's fault or nvidia's we'll hopefully find out the culprit with this report. Let me know if any other information is necessary.

The zip does not show any new crash dump. Disable DV and then enable it again. This time, make it sure that you are not selecting any driver provided by "microsoft" and "unknown" in the list.

Seeing a couple of DV enabled crashdumps, it will be decide about what is causing the issue.

Try this one, if there are any more bsods i'll repost some more crashdumps.

Note: In that DV tutorial it said don't check any microsoft drivers, well I checked the unknown drivers because it wasn't microsoft, but don't worry this time I did not check microsoft or unknown drivers.

Here's another one, it was the same report because it happened on the same day, everything that's new is renamed "(2)" (Decided to keep both files, sorry for the messiness)

The bsod basically happened as soon as I entered a server on cs:go, but after my restart it was fine for the rest of the match...

No crash dump at all.

Disable driver verifier. Run disc cleanup to remove all the old files. Then follow it: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

try the crashing action again ... hopefully there will be a crash dump. If not, we have to think it differently.

Disabled driver verifier, and ran disk cleanup and deleted everything, but i'm not sure if it deleted all the old dump files, because when I went to the minidump folder there were still files that I had but said "Access is denied" to me when I tried opening them, and in disk cleanup there's still about 800MB worth of dump files so again I'm not sure if disk cleanup removed the old ones.

I got a blue screen without driver verifier on, but after I used that registry file you showed me in order to activiate minidump recordings, hopefully this report will have some.

Alright so my computer has been better, but there are still some issues. I've gotten maybe 2-3 blue screens this week, and one was really short I remember it was almost instant.

Problem is some of my applications randomly crash, namely Firefox, Chrome, Osu, and CS:GO. Firefox will restart itself in safe-mode, Chrome will forget all my tabs I had open, osu will randomly crash once a song is complete (and always say it's been updated at startup), and cs:go randomly crashes if I alt+tab to my desktop (running true fullscreen on that game) and I have removed SUPERAntiSpyware.

When I'm running flash videos on websites such as YouTube, or a game, sometimes I think I can hear my graphics card or it's fan spinning if something happens in game or video it kinda matches the noise/sound it makes...call me crazy, or it could be my hard drive. The hardware end seems to be fine though, no overheating and everything is stock.

I am wondering though, should I stick with these drivers since they seem to be the most stable? Are there any further attempts to permanently fixing this issue? I just don't want to randomly receive any more bsods out of the blue (pun intended, but serious) My question to you Arc is if there is any more logs you'll want or shall I mark this as resolved if you think it's okay? I think it's not resolved because of these minor yet random issues.

Here's my take from what you described.

Alright so my computer has been better, but there are still some issues. I've gotten maybe 2-3 blue screens this week, and one was really short I remember it was almost instant.
That is possible that no dump was recorded or it was an NMI.
Did you happen to remember how it looked?
Was there a lot of white text on the screen or just a few lines?

This sounds like an unstable CPU, what is the make, age and model of your PSU?
Please fill out this form and post back the result:

The noise description sounds like a typical coil whine, changing frequency dependent
on what is being displayed on the monitor.

Do you happen to notice some sort of a reproducible pattern to the crashes?
