BSOD while playing BF3---Windows 7

It may not be a driver causing the issue exactly but BF3 itself is incompatible with a driver. You could try running directly from the internet using an Ethernet cable or use another wireless device to connect (recommend borrowing one so you don't spend money on a potential non-solution).

Yah I really think its BF3 were something is wrong. After the first patch was released I didn't play at all until a week ago and I started getting these BF3.exe has stopped working, and a few BSOD's. The game crashes everytime I try and play it. And supposedly EA is working on fixing this issue. So maybe BF3 itself is cuasing the BSOD's????

I realize I have given a lot of options, but run them in the order I have given them one at a time to determine which, if any, help your situation. Obviously, you can hold off on the memory test until you go to sleep so you are not wasting your day with slow results.

Driver Verifier stresses your drivers to determine which might be incompatible with Windows 7. It just changes how Windows normally runs to mimic situations where drivers are likely to fail if they are not working correctly. If your drivers normally work well and do not typically fail, then verifier may take a long time to cause a blue screen error. If you get blue screens more often due to drivers, then Verifier will cause the blue screen error sooner.

For instance, I have a laptop that once had a driver on it that was designed for Windows 7 before the RTM version was released. It caused a blue screen within 30 seconds of boot up. I replaced the driver with an updated version, and Verifier did not cause a blue screen for nearly two days.

You could try updating your BIOS and chipset drivers. I found similar issues through a cursory Google search that fixed their problem by doing so.

BIOS and BIOS-Utilities

First, go into the BIOS utilities and get the information for DOS flashing and get the DOS based BIOS update tool. You do not want to flash your BIOS through Windows in case you need to revert back to the old BIOS to get Windows to start (this is rare, but it does happen).

Download both BIOS version 2103 and your current version 1801

Okay so I'm not going to run any more tests as I think this is game related. This is something that EA has to fix with their upcoming patch. I heard that this issue may be cuased by BF3 trying to access memory that is is not allowed therfore cuasing it the stop working and sometimes BSOD!!

So we will see. If you find anything else that may be helpful, like what in the world is that "ntoskrnl.exe" file, then let me know!

ntoskrnl.exe is one of the top level system files. It isn't what is causing the failure as you ran sfc /scannow and found no errors. It is often pointed to in blue screens because it is such a big part of the system.

Okay awesome! Well with Christmas coming up im not going to have time to run the memory test and driver verify just yet! But on monday I will deffinitley try to run those in the meantime. Like I said its seemed to be more of the BF3.exe has stopped working now. Only a couple of BSOD's today.

I just don't feel 100 percent comfortable saying it is game related yet. Until the new patch comes out. But I will post back when I run those two tests. Anything else recommended since I have done the other tests??

Nothing that jumps out at me yet. This does not seem like a hardware issue unless it is the RAM, so I would rather not jump the gun and test other hardware until I get more information from the memory tests and Verifier.

You don't think its a virus or anything of that sort. Although I don't see how I would get a virus seeing that I don't do much on this computer.

Its really starting to frustrate me...I just got two more BSOD's in the past 10 minutes. One when shutting down and one when starting up.....

It is the last few dump files in this one. I think its USBPORT.SYS and NDIS.SYS....

You can get a virus without doing much on the computer if your internet is connected. You can download and install the free version of Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download and run a full scan. If Malwarebytes finds nothing, also download, unzip, and let Vipre Rescue run to see if Malwarebytes missed anything.

Your blue screens were memory_corruption and ntkrnlmp.exe related; possibly due to RAM... Run the memtests mentioned in post #4 and see what comes up.

Also, run the Driver Verifier to see if maybe it is a driver that is clobbering the memory.
