I have been getting BSOD While surfing the web on dual Screens . I have my computer hooked up to a Samsung monitor and a Vizio tv, I'll put Youtube on one screen and check my email, facebook on the other. But now every so often when i switch between screens I get BSOD. This is really the only time it happens.

Software Concerns:
You have both Norton Security Suite and Microsoft Security Essentials installed. Please choose one or the other but not both. Having two realtime antivirus programs can cause conflicts due to both accessing the same system resources simultaneously.

Analysis:
Crashes have a variety of BugCheck codes. That may indicate a hardware concern, or it may be due to the realtime antivirus software conflicts. Take care of the above first and see if it provides more stability.

I have removed one the softwares last night and so far no issues. I'll give it another couple of days to see, but if not happens I'll mark it as solved. Thank you for looking into it.

Analysis:
Your most recent crashes have all been the same. All point to a driver or hardware issue. I did note that your wireless network adapter driver is out of date. Update the driver from HP Support & Drivers | United States and see if the system is more stable. If that does not work, run Driver Verifier:
To run Driver Verifier, do the following:
a. Backup your system and user files
b. Create a system restore point
c. If you do not have a Windows 7 DVD, Create a system repair disc
d. In Windows 7:
  • Click the Start Menu
  • Type verifier in Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
  • Right click verifier and click Run as administrator
  • Put a tick in Create custom settings (for code developers) and click next
  • Put a tick in Select individual settings from a full list and click next
  • Set up the individual settings as in the image and click next
    View attachment 221349
  • Put a tick in Select driver names from a list
  • Put a tick next to all non-Microsoft drivers.
  • Click Finish.
  • Restart your computer.

If Windows cannot start in normal mode with driver verifier running, start in safe mode. If it cannot start in safe mode or normal mode, restore the system restore point using http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html OPTION TWO.

If you are unable to start Windows with all drivers being verified or if the blue screen crashes fail to create .dmp files, run them in groups of 5 or 10 until you find a group that causes blue screen crashes and stores the blue screen .dmp files.
The idea with Verifier is to cause the system to crash, so do the things you normally do that cause crashes. After you have a few crashes, upload the crash reports for us to take a look and try to find patterns.

When you are ready to disable Verifier: Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click Command Prompt -> Run as administrator -> Type the following command and then Enter:
verifier /reset
-> Restart your computer.
[/LIST]

Alright I looked for updates for the wireless driver both through HP support and Device Manager, couldn't find any new drivers for it.

I also did the backup system and files AND Thats where I got a new BSOD :( I got three in total of what looked like the same type. the first one was right when i started the backup process and the other two about 20-30 mins after it started backing. Don't kno if it finished. (I try backing up files in two different hard-drives)

I did the Verifier but no crashes hapen when i restarted my PC. Windows boot it up with no issue. I ran it as administrator.

Now what.

Use the PC normally. In my post giving the Verifier instructions, I mentioned that you should try to do the steps that normally cause crashes. If crashes are random, then it is best to do your normal routine and let them occur that way.

By the way, I will analyze the crashes that occurred during backup after the Verifier steps are accomplished. I do not want to throw too many steps at you at once. :)

I am not liking what am going to write because it makes me not understand what's going on when more. But I have had verifier on these last couple of days and I haven't had my PC crash yet. I have been doing what I usually do now and even pushed it with even more multi- tabes, videos on both screens and no BSOD. just points where my PC looks like its going to freeze but nothing happens.

That sounds more like a hardware concern. Run some hardware checks.
  • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

  • If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
    • SSD firmware
    • BIOS Version
    • Chipset Drivers
    • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
    • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

  • Run all but the advanced tests with SeaTools for HDDs.
  • Monitor temperatures during the following tests.
Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.

  • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

       Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. :warn:WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
    1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
    2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
    3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
    4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

Here the Crash info, just got all collected, included perfmon /report.

  • As far as overclocking- I don't know how to change any of those setting, but is there a way to check

My hard-drive is not a SSD.

I'll do the test tonight/tomorrow, and I do both test the Window and DOS, or just Windows?

One of your crashes directly blames Norton as the cause.
  1. Download and run the Norton Removal Tool.

  2. Replace with Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows at least to test.

For Windows Updates: How do I reset Windows Update components?

Both of your crashes may be due to your Ralink RT2860 series Wireless LAN Card (you may have a different manufacturer) being out of date. Update your wireless drivers from

The update for the wireless didn't work, something about not meeting the min. requirements. But the talk about over heating got me thinking about where my wireless card was placed in the PC. I opened it and noticed that it was closer to the GPU than i like it to be, so i move it to another port. It re-installed itself on the new port. As of now it seems to be working with no problem. I don't know if it was due to over heating, a bad port, or if it was just loose.
