I've been reading along these forums trying to debug some persistent random BSODs. I really appreciate the guides and help everyone has given, but I'm still having trouble debugging my system.
I built this computer in August 2007, and once I replaced the stock cooling on my graphics card it was fairly stable until recently, when I moved across the country. Since the move (which damaged another computer's motherboard), it's been fairly unstable.
It often BSODs during video streaming, but also does so when idle. The CPU seemed to be having a heat issue, so I recently replaced the stock CPU cooler with a Corsair A50, and for about a week it had only 2 BSODs (both while idling).
Since last night, it has had four BSODs while streaming from Hulu, until this afternoon when I shut it off completely..
PC Info:
- Abit IP35 Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
- 2x1GB DDR2 800 RAM
- Sapphire Radeon 2900 XT w/ aftermarket Artic Cooling 3-fan cooler
- Two SATA harddrives
- Antec NeoPower 550W PSU
I've set it to not auto-reboot after a crash, but it rarely makes it through generating the minidump - usually it sits at the "preparing" stage. It is almost always IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, although I've seen MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I've started to record times and stop errors.
I have uGuru, SpeedFan and RivaTuner; when I keep an eye on it, temperatures seem reasonable. The graphics card seems to run hot when idling (47C). I've run FurMark and Prime95 (which showed the CPU getting really hot) before I replaced the CPU cooler. I've run MemTest86+ overnight since the move with no errors, although both memory modules were in.
I am an advanced user and a veteran at building systems, but the last one I've had this many problems with had been hit by lightning!
What should I try next to pinpoint what's causing these problems?
Thanks in advance for all your help.
I have attached the files generated by both the jcgriff2 tool and the SF Diagnostic Tool.
