Building the OS from scratch

Building the OS from scratch seem to me to be the best way to go when building a new computer. As time goes on after a year two or three the OS seem to get sick such as my auto run don't work no more and after Microsoft work on it for 3 hours it really don't run no more. Bugs, jitters, shakes and just old age. So after I build the computer I think I'm just going to build the OS from scratch. I've did it both ways, from scratch and just move it to the new computer and after I just reload the OS and rebuild it I feel so much better not to mention the computer runs like a high school student instead of someone like me that just took sum Vitamins.

I think you'll find that as time goes by you'll be faced with this issues (amoung others). What tends to happen is that as you install then un-install apps there are still remnents of the app still in the registry & folders (normally 'Program Files'). These entries/files could eventually cause performance lag and slight instability (don't quote me on that ) As a rule I normally re-install every 3-6 months to keep my OS in the most pristine condition

That's why it's recommended to reinstall the OS about once a year, to get a fresh start.

Yep, as I'm sure most of us know through either reading and/or experience, XP was particularly prone to slow down over time. Vista and 7 not so much but still, they slow down and it's good to reinstall every so often. I'm thinking of reinstalling soon as a matter of fact but not sure whether to stick to 7 or go with Vista, but that's for another thread.

I respond with this:

I'm building another computer and in the olden days I just took the Hard Drive from my old computer and put it into new computer and after about 30 clicks of the mouse I was ok. I don't think this is the right way. I've never did a transfer from my home. So I build another computer, put the basic OS, use a transfer cable I will have to buy and I'm not sure about this? Any help please.

Just take care of your PC regularly, its like a car, you don't tweak it, its starts going bad. Do disk cleanup, defrag, remove unneeded programs, do malware scans, clean your hardware and control the content you keep inside your system to keep it in good shape.

But you will in deed need to do a reinstall sometime ever few months because such performance bogging things like orphaned, folders , files and registry entries that are left over by removed applications are just hard to locate and remove manually and somehow risky. Its the main weakness I really think Microsoft should better fix in their future operating systems.

I wouldn't really want to build a PC set from old hardware. Yes, its cheaper this way but by the gains it has on performance, its just not as good as new ones.

Oh I know it's wrong but at least you can get the gist of it. I have since corrected it ... the signature I mean. If only I could correct the users, that would certainly be something.

The other past may not be perfect, but it was SIGNIFICANTLY better.
And by significantly, I mean that it was easy to read, compared to this one, which was hard.

I have no doubt he(she) knows English better than that.
