Built in Win 7 Disk Defragmenter is perfectly fine for my use except it seems to longer work properly, or at least how it did for several years.
I have scheduled defragmentation turned on. Pretty sure it is the default setting. Previously I would look and see that the listed drives, OS (C: ) HP_RECOVERY (D: ) and FreeAgent Drive (F: ) were Last Run on say 7/8/2015 7:00 PM (slight time variances for the three but all analyzed near the set schedule). But for a while now I will see the latter two have been analyzed but OS (C: ) was not. I then will manually analyze OS (C: ) and not think about it for a week or three and then will check and again see that two drives were analyzed on schedule but OS (C: )was not. It will still show the last time I manually analyzed the drive. So it would show 6/25/15 for OS (C: ) while the other two show 7/8/15.
I thought maybe it was because I have disturbed the program during use so I have made sure not to touch the computer around its scheduled time but OS (C: ) still does not get analyzed. It works fine when I manually run it so the program works. It analyzes the other drives on the schedule so it doesn't seem to be a Task Schedule issue. Any thoughts?
FWIW I am not over defragging my computer as even after analyzing I typically won't do anything more. Occasionally OS (C: ) may reach 3% defragmented and then I may let it defragment. I'm just trying to understand why it is not running the scheduled defragmentation for OS (C: ).
