Burning ISO with ImgBurn

Have just installed ImgBurn and want to burn a Vista ISO to a DVD.

Now I have got as far as looking for the downloaded file but when I click on downloads where it is stored nothing comes up in the ImgBurn window - only an old Ubuntu ISO.

So I don't know if I am doing something wrong?

Any help please?

Having re-read your post, I'm a little confused. Have you successfully installed Imgburn, or are you trying to find the actual SetupImgburn_2.5.7.0 exe?

Yep I have the latest version from the ImgBurn site and that is just what I have been doing as per that tut they have on the net but I click on the places I have saved the ISO and there is nothing in them yet click on them via the desktop > downloads / new folder and there the files are?

Strange.

I've just checked my installation and sure enough, I select "write image file to disc" then click source then select ISO, then open and viola, it works.

Below is how I write ISOs. Are you doing exactly these steps? If you are and you fail, I'd reinstall ImgBurn. I'd get it from softpedia.com so you don't have to deal with advertisements and confusion at the ImgBurn site.


Switch to 'Write' from mode menu or do that via the 'Write image file to disc' button on the 'Ez-Mode Picker' screen.

Insert blank CD/DVD.

Select a file to write by clicking on the 'Browse for file' button. If you created the image with ImgBurn, you should be looking for a *.CUE / *.MDS file initially. Otherwise, look for an ISO file. Locate the file and open it.

Click the big red 'Write' button.

Hum might have to reinstall it as suggested via softpedia as it isn't going to go.

Well the power app is burning something as I type - finished!

But I still think the file or the download was different to what I downloaded - a Vista OS. Will have to wait and see if the darn thing gets that machine installing.

But have got to get ready for the graveyard shift so will catch up tomorrow

Yep did that first up - twice Z and the disk didn't work so thought perhaps another app might fare better

Hey fellas have been at this thing all day and found this but I cannot but cannot get the Vista folder to insert into the ImgBurn.

I open the ImgBurn as per these instructions and it opens the folder and just doesn't add it to the app to be burnt.

It has got me that mad now that I could eat my shoes!! I just don't want to give now as it is a matter of it or me!!

Yep TypeR I downloaded it from that Vishal is the and this one in Dell. The x14 folder has a slightly different number from Dell as I think that Vishal has the Ultimate and this is the Home Premium version in Dell.

I first picked the Vishal one from the Vista forum and then found the Dell in a reply from a local forum friend.

Now each time it takes forever to download along with the wim files too. What I cannot understand when it says to select the file / folder to be burnt is that the folder "Opens" out to it's constituent parts and is not dumped as Vista in the to burn box.

I did burn I think an ISO with the inbuilt Windows feature but the machine I stuck it in - no boot.

Ok Arc I'll tyr that but I did manage to get that Vista install folder into ImgBurn late last night and it displayed a message - non bootable.

But another og isn't going to hurt eh?

John, look at the first snip. It says "Write in image file to disc".

So, the thing you are writing is must to be an image file. Usual extension of such a file is .iso. Or it may be something like .bin, .cue, .mdf, .nrg or some more. And that is why I asked for a snip of the explorer window in which the downloaded folder is situated.

Upload that snip, as mentioned below.

(the partitions are hidden, coz many a times I am asked how can I get so many partitions lol.)

Hey Arc this is what I get with any of the options - these pics are write image file to disk then click on select a file.
