Solved (C5) Current Pending Sector in WD Drive

Hello.

In the last month my computer started getting really slow from time to time. It's slow for a few minutes and then gets back to normal speed. Even opening a folder is slow sometimes. So, because i has on exams this last month i didn't do anything to windows because i have ubuntu too, and it was working great, so i started working there. Well, from time to time, ubuntu said something about a /tmp folder that was missing, but he would always correct it. So today i was going to format windows, but then i read an article about bad sectors on hardrives and i went to CrystalDiskInfo program, ran it, and it gave me an alert about (C5) Current Pending Sector. Because of that i went to WD page and download Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows, i ran the extended test on my drive but after a while gave and error saying "Too many bad sectors". Do i have to buy a new hardrive or can i fix it somehow?

See if this will help, download this: CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World and open the program and follow the steps in this snip.

This may give you a little bit of time, but the drive should be replaced soon.

I did that and now it says "Good". But i ran the Hard Disk Sentinel and it says this:

Thanks, that does indicate a failing drive. I would strongly suggest you back up all of your data and get a new drive, or warranty one, and replace soon. One easy way to make a back up is through an image of the drive.

Windows is working just fine actually, i have already put everything on my external hardrive. I just wanted to know if there was any solution for my case, even though, i already suspected it had to be replaced. Thanks for everything.

Sometimes mechanical devices wear out but there's no way to know exactly when, unfortunately. I'm glad to hear you have back ups, many don't do that.
