Can a locked file be removed or unlocked

Hi all, I hope that I am in the right forum, my problem is Microsoft One Drive, I believe that it can be used to store text docs for safe keeping, and for free.
So I tried to set it up One Drive, it wasn't so simple as when the prog asked for my pass word I tried every microsoft pw I had all were rejected, and after an hour I got fedup and closed down, now when I try to open the program to have another try it opens with a file icon and under "Type" it says Locked File, I cannot delete it because its open in One Drive (it says) can this problem be overcome, or will it be easier to uninstall One Drive and download it again? regards Robert

Worth a try Robert I don't like cloud stuff myself so don't really know a lot about it

Thanks for your input, Since I posted I have had another thought, and I now wonder if I reinstall OneDrive again using my same details if the file will be still be there? and still stopping me from accessing the storage, I think that I will probably have to either open the file in some way or remove it if that is possible.
I have not tried cloud storage yet and don't know much about it, as OneDrive free was installed with win7 I just thought that it would be ok as a backup for a few txt files I want to keep and a few photos probably no more than ½ a Gig. Regards Robert.

Try Google drive sign up for a free Gmail account if you haven't got one then install the Google drive app put your files in the Google drive folder and they will be backed up you have 15gig of free space so you can save anything video photos etc you can also use Google photos for free and backup photos unlimited I have 75000 photos backed up for free

Actually Robert there s one great Google app I us all the time - Keep it stores all your passwords reminder notes etc etc and is supposedly encrypted when you use it but I go a step further and "encrypt" passwords myself.

So for example if I had a password like MydogTrixie@home I would type in Keep as M****T*****at***e

You can colour the real important ones and keep them (no pun intended LOL!!) "pinned" which means they appear at the top of the listings.

Now the other good thing about this app is that you can put it on another computer or your phone and as long as you are signed in on your Google account (I have a Google Pixel phone so no problems) the saved data will carry across. For example if you lost your login password you open up your phone again for example and there would be your list of passwords including the login one to your computer/s.

You could do this on a friends computer logging into your Google account and still get Keep up for the passwords etc
