I have DELL Inspiron 3420 (laptop). When I purchased my laptop, a genuine "Windows 7 Home Basic" (64bit), was installed in it. But this windows was so heavy and slow. I made recovery discs of Windows 7 Home Basic. Then I uninstalled Windows 7 Home Basic and installed a fresh copy of "windows 8 pro".
I have four partitions. Now I want to re-install the genuine Windows 7 Home Basic, from the recovery discs, in a separate partition. And I want both windows on my laptop. Is it possible? I have added an image also.

Yes, it pretty easy.

Your screen shot is not much use. Disk management always gives more information.

Type diskmgmt.msc in start search box and it will pop up.

You will be better using the official win 7 Home basic installation media. The recovery discs you made will probably be full of oem bloatware.

F isn't very big , you might want a bit more space than that.

I don't know how the oem have set up the recovery process. Some work similar to regular installation media. The Dell ones used to - unless they have changed them.

You can always try it and see what it offers.

The regular install process goes like this:

Clean Install Windows 7

I made recovery discs of Windows 7 Home Basic.

If you made the disks yourself, the Recovery will delete all partition & remake the Recovery partition.
If you ordered the Recovery DVD's from Dell, those will install as regular installation media.

If you use Recovery disks you will reinstall all of the factory bloatware and duplicate utilities which interfere with better version built into Win7. That's why no tech enthusiast will run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to get the best possible install and not the worst install one can have of Win7 with the Recovery.

Read over the steps in the blue link tutorial and ask back any questions you have.

If you run Recovery to get the inferior factory install, then be sure to back up your data first as it will wipe out everything. Then afterwards I would Clean Up Factory Bloatware
