can i install xp driver on this mode

I got some old hardware that do not have driver for win7. Can I use xp mode to install the driver and use the hardware (printer, scanner)?

Hello Senderj, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I think that you had Windows Virtual PC XP Mode mixed up with compatibility mode, so I moved your post here.

You should also post the brand and model number of your printer/scanner if you like to see if someone that has the sameone may be able to tell you how they got it working on Windows 7.

If Windows 7 does not use any generic driver or that driver will not install normally, then it wouldn't hurt anything to try to install the driver using compatibility mode with XP selected. It will either install or not, and work or not. Another option is to try and install the driver through Device Manger, if your printer is listed.

Either way, you might consider creating a restore point first. This way if something goes haywire afterwards, you can always just do a system restore to undo it.
