Can I remove a usb device from the 'reset list'

I did a fresh install of w7 and have an issue where as after returning from hibernation. My usb devices are reset. I can hear the windows sound of a usb device being unplugged/plugged in. The problem is that this causes the software which was using the device to no longer work without being restarted.

Returning from standby works perfectly. No devices are reset, and all is well.

I have read that you can add devices to this 'reset list'. But I would like to remove the ones having a problem, or all of them for that matter.

Is this possible?

On the lower right of your screen, near the time and date. There is or should be a very small icon. If you click on it, you can find out if you can remove the device. If you do not see it, some of your icons may be hidden, you can click on an icon in the same area to show those hidden icons. Cannot find? Go to help, you will be able to find how to utilize the eject icon.

I am not trying to 'eject' a usb device. I think you may have misread my post, or I didn't explain myself correctly.

w7 is restarting/resetting my usb devices only upon returning from hibernation. This causes the software which was using the device to malfunction, and require a restart in order to find the device and work again. Obviously the software using it should be able to handle a restart. But at this point in time they have not addressed the issue. Currently 2 of my usb devices are exhibition this behaviour.

If windows 7 could be configured in such a way so that it would not restart/reset these usb devices. Then I could use the system until the software creators update their software, if they ever do..

Sorry about the misunderstanding. The only solution that I know, but others will be helping you, also, is to shut down your computer and remove the devices, boot up, install the devices again, one at a time. Make sure that the one just installed works, before installing the next.

If you can install software, again, in compatiblity mode. This often solves problems. you can look up the proper method for your software, in the forums tutorials.

I am hopeful and believe that your problem may be solved by my suggestions or, if not, by others that will offer help. This is a great forum with many helpful and rally knowledgable people.

Unfortunately running the software in compatibility mode will not correct this issue. It is software related specifically due to the usb device being reset upon completion of resume.

I do however share your opinion about these forums. They have been very helpful to me in the past.
