Can I sell my Dell XPS M1530 w/COA on eBay

Would I be able to sell the above hardware and COA (product key) on eBay ? Could the product key work on another Dell laptop or another manufacturer laptops or is the key and activation restricted only to this XPS M1530 laptops ?

Victor as far as I am aware the activation code for that particular machine is only for that particular machine it cannot be transferred to another machine of whatever brand or model as it is invariably an OEM put on by Dell. As long as the new owner uses that code for any subsequent reinstall then it will go ok.

You can sell it however you please the COA is not an issue it will with the sale belong to the new owner.

If you sell the Hardware then legally you should include all software that was included with the system at original purchase this would include the OS and any disks etc that were supplied.

The COA is tied to that hardware for life and cannot be used with any other device without illegal hacks.

Also when you advertise on-line make sure you mention it comes with all software but DO NOT in any way show the COA, as there are thieves out there who will steal the COA.

The best way to prepare for sale is to use the restore options/disk that came with the hardware to reset it to the exact way it was when you bought it - protects your personal data and allows the new owner to set-up from scratch
