Hey people

But I'm on Windows 7 32bit of this Student version however I have recently purchased a new Motherboard and RAM (4GB) and I want to swap to 64 bit Windows 7.

My brother purchased the Upgrade Windows 7 Retail (so he has a disc), When I install my new Motherboard and RAM can I use the same CD Key I was given for the 32bit?

Thanks

It is my understanding that the student version is the same as the retail, except for the key, but the key would work with the retail, it would simply register it as student.

When installing do not give your key number and uncheck the box that allows automatic activation. Use the system for a while. After you know you are satisfied, but before 30 days) activate. If there is a problem, you will be given a phone number. You will activate with a touch tone phone. If there is still aproblem, you will speak to a rep. Everyone in this situation has indicated that the rep is very understanding and will give you no trouble as long as you are honest with him.. Good luck and enjoy Windows 7 64 Bit. I know I am.

As long as your brother's 64 bit installer is for the same version of Win7 as your license, then it will activate with your key.
