Solved Can I use the same confirmation ID to activate Windows?

Hello. I have Windows 7 installed, and I activated it via phone activation. Now it's starting to run slow after using it for a year. I would like to reformat with a clean installation. My question is can I activate it using the same confirmation ID that I got before?

You should just need to use your same product key number to activate it with. If it doesn't do so normally online, then you'll just need to do so by phone again.

with all due respect, if I skip to phone activation, and it pops out the box where it requests a confirmation ID, do I need to enter the same code that I got previously?

You should try to activate online as normal first. If that doesn't work, then you could try entering the same confirmation ID, but most likely you will need to do a phone activation again to get a new one.

so this means I will get different installation ID and it is not the same the first time I got?

What matters is your product key number and not the confirmation ID or product ID. Your product key number is unique for your Windows 7 and will never change. The product key number is what is used to activate Windows 7 with.

I have no objection at all. I thought I can use back the same confirmation ID whenever it needs. Well, I did try using the same confirmation ID for Office 2010 when I was offline, and my Office 2010 did not recognize the numbers that I entered in the box. Fortunately, it went very well with online activation.

Yes. It seems online activation is quicker than the second method (via phone). But sometimes I need to turn off AV in order to get smooth activation.
