Can not enable Admin Shares in a Windows 7 workgroup

I have tried to enable the $ shares on a windows 7 64 bit machine in a workgroup.
i have tried the regedit that is suggested on the internet and added the Qword without sucess. Has anyone sucessfully done it?

I can go to admin shares merely by using the $ symbol, as in "\\myshare\c$". Does this not work for you?

\\MyShare\c$ would not work. It would be \\ComputerName\c$.

"myshare" was just a placeholder. It would be pretty silly (and impossible) to try to access the c drive from a share.

The default admin (c$) shares were disabled from Vista onwards for security reasons, If you need to share at the root level you should manually add a share with a unique name, (eg, "Cdrive"). These can then be accessed normally
