Can you get another computer to wake up and sleep when you press the on button on your computer?
If so, how?

You can use wake on lan ( Depicus ) somehow with mouse macros I guess.

Yes on the same network!

You can use wake on lan ( Depicus ) somehow with mouse macros I guess.


I know how to use WOL. Wondering if it could be used when I switch on either of my computers the NAS will switch on automatically and carry out a Backup of all files then shutdown automatically without having to be there...

I can get it to work via the network (computer to computer) and also via website (internet) to computer. But, I can't get it to work from computer-Internet-computer:mad:. Strange innit!

It's a matter of doing port forwarding correctly and adding a static ARP entry into the router. Without these wake on lan over the Internet is not gonna happen. I suggest buying a dd-wrt compatible router and from there it's pretty easy.
