All,

I have updated my PC from WIN XP to WIN 7. I installed WIN 7 on a new SSD and want now to access my files (on the still WIN XP hdd) my files. I do see all the files, but when I want to open or copy them access is denied because of missing permission. I already have "full control" over these files when I check the properties in the security tab.

Does anyone have an idea how I can copy my files over?

Thanks.

In the link you provided is a tool to install. Isnt that what you are suggesting to use to take over the ownership?

Right-click on the folder in question > Properties > Security > Advance > Owner > Edit > Select your user > Check "Replace..." > Ok.

What WHS posted just automates this, it is not software but built in windows tools setup as a shotcut in the right-click menu.
