Cannot access User Account features...

For some reason the links under "User Accounts" in the control panel will not work. I click on "change your windows password" and I get nothing coming up, just a click sound. When I click "add or remove user accounts" or "change your account picture" I get the following:


Add/Remove User Accounts Error
Change Picture Error

I've Googled for the past 2 hours trying things but nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you upgrade or clean install 7? Did you try any tweaks? Did you recently install anything anything that changed something?

I clean installed it way when it came right out from a digital download purchase. It was something like $29.95 for college students so I figured I'd get it that way.

I don't recall doing anything new lately as far as installations or tweaks go, just the normal stuff. I hadn't even messed around with any of the User Accounts settings since I installed Windows 7 way back in the fall, so I'm not even sure when this initially stopped working. Back then when I put the initial password and photo in everything worked normal. I just happened to click to today and noticed. All the stuff runs fine and everything, it's just annoying not being able to change your password or anything with user accounts for that matter.

Did you have to reinstall your programs (if yes that was a clean install)?

Yup, reinstalled everything since there was no upgrade option from the RC. Like I said before, I installed Windows 7 way back the day it came out and was able to do everything then under the User Account settings. This is some weird stuff to me.

Ok, I'll give that a shot. It's going through all it's stuff now.

When you are done with the SFC, if it finds errors run a couple of times more.
If that does not work we can do a repair. You will be up and running soon.

Just finished and says "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations".

My only problem with doing that is I have no install CD. The digital download wasn't an ISO and they didn't send any discs with it. It's really no real big issue I guess. I do really appreciate all your help though.

No .ISO? Was it an .IMG file? What was the download?

is the account you are having trouble with an admin account or standard user have you tried creating another account the user profile sounds like it's corrupt

It's the admin account.
