Hey everyone,

I ran malwarebytes on an Acer computer and after finding over 11, 000 infections and removing them it prompted me to restart. After the restart it will show the windows log then after a few seconds reboot again and go to the windows repair count down.

After the count down it scans to see if it can find problems and repair them or restore to a earlier time. It ask me if I would want to restore, I said no by accident. I tried it again and restarted but it will no longer ask to restore it, just says windows can not fix the problem.

Will someone help me please? I have tons of important documents on my computer.

Let me know if you need anything else. I need to find a better spec reader.
Do you have a windows 7 disc? If so try to do a a system restore using the windows disc. Restore it to a time before all these infections were found because that sounds like the last time the system was working properly.

If that 11,000 is not a false positive your OS was already wrecked and a clean install is your best option.

You can use something like this to get your documents though,

If you haven't gottenwhat you need by now, your best course is as stated to attempt using the WIn7 disk System Recovery Options or System Repair Disk to Startup Repair.

This should automate System Restore or System File Checker to either roll back to before the damage or repair it. If neither is obviously run, then run them from the System Recovery Options which has System Restore on its list and a Command Line to run SFC /SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot.

In addition everything possible that can be done is here for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start leading up to if necessary rescuiing your files to run Recovery or do the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If you do go to Malwarebytes site for help, please let us know exactly how it goes with links if possible. We are very concerned for the countless thousands of users we've referred to MBAM over the years and will see to it you are given the help that you need by whatever means necessary.

Thanks @gregrocker we often do use links from this forum to refer users to as there is some great information here.

This happened to me some days ago. Exactly the same.

First I downloaded the kaspersky rescue live cd to get rid of some serious virus that were in the system.

But, that did not solve the issue with the continuous reboot.

Then I downloaded an other live cd [this is not for free but I use a torrent to get it]. Is called "Wondeshare LiveBoot 2012 v 7.0.1" I used all the tools to replenish the files that make windows 7 to load. It did work :D but the system was a little weird because of the virus that attacked the system, so anyway I use dban to erase it all.

I hope this helps ;)

Btw: if you just want to get your files, use a cd with ubuntu or linux. Use the option test without installing [I cant remember exactly how is labeled that option]. I made the big mistake to recover my files using the safe mode when I finally solved the reboot problem; this is why I'm here.

One should be able to use robocopy from another system running the same version of Windows to the affected computer.
If you're having issues please contact our Help Desk or open a ticket on the forum and we'll do our best to assist you.

If possible one of these options would be the best choice to get the system running again.

How to Do a System Restore in Windows 7

How to Run a Startup Repair in Windows 7

The first choice would be best as we should not need to run further updates or fixes. The second method would hopefully get you working but then we'd need to run some other restore fixes to put things back the way they were.

1. Yes
2. Quarantining for scan should NOT be set to automatic for scanning. You should choose to quarantine something rather than doing it automatically.
3. Yes
4. I presume you are speaking about Saturday's incident without actually mentioning it by name. Default quarantining is being reviewed.

FYI...updating and scanning was safe on Saturday early evening (may even be late afternoon, depending on where you are). Bottom line is that it's handled. and was a very isolated incident.

I hope this is help for some. It helped me.
