Hi all,

I dont have a wifi modem/router. So, thought of using my broadband connection in laptop running 7 for my iPhone. Googled and got some steps. First and foremost is to create a ad-hoc connection.

Selected ad-hoc, gave anetwork name, selected open authentication and clicked on next, greeted with a message cannot setup ad-hoc.

Tried all steps whatever came to my mind, but nothing works.

Need help in setting up ad-hoc.
Additionally, some effective working steps to use my broadband lan connection with iPhone. Hell I miss the wireless modem/router :(

Hi, perhaps one of the easiest ways to create an ad hoc network is to use this little program called Connectify.

I discovered this program last month and has since made my second router redundant.

It can be managed from the system tray and takes about 3 minutes to setup.

You can download Connectify at Connectify - Turn your Windows 7 laptop into a Wi-Fi Hotspot.

In many ways Connectify is better than a standard ad hoc network because it allows you to carry on using your WLAN card to connect to another network while hosting a network yourself.

I hope this helps you.

No problem, I'm glad you got it working.

Drivers are more trouble than they're worth sometimes :p.

Confirmed

The version of the driver was the issue with my computer as well (Lenovo X220 - Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000). Updating to the latest version made the system work.

I use virtual router manager. It allows your PC to share its connection, even if the PC is itself hooked up to the Internet using WiFi. It is open source and comes with WPA2 security
