Cannot get past login screen. Win 7 Pro 64bit

Hello, I am an IT technician and I have been working on this customers computer for a while now. Their issue is intermittent. It seems to happen every morning after their computer has been asleep all night. But when they try to login, they can input their password but they cannot hit the arrow to enter the password and hitting the enter key does nothing. It shows the password being typed in, but it just will not let you hit the arrow or enter key.

Also when this happens they attempt to restart through the GUI but this freezes everytime and they have to do a hard reset. It doesn't happen if I restart or put the computer to sleep throughout the day, only when the computer has been left overnight.

I have never seen anything like this. I have updated every single driver, I have done sfc /scannow which found corruption it could not fix. I ran chkdsk /r and it found nothing. I ran startup repair and it finds nothing. I ran bootec /fixboot and bootrec /fixmbr. I took the cover off and reseated absolutely everything in the case.

I checked power options, all looks good. Changed NIC settings to not go to sleep. Ran ESET online scanner, found nothing, ran malware bytes found nothing, ran Sec. Essentials, found nothing.

Ran Dell's onboard ePAS assessment which tested hard drive, tested memory, did CPU stress test. Everything looked good.

I am out of things to do besides completely reinstalling, which I really do not want to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it still going to sleep?

If not, try a Repair Install. If that doesn't fix it then a Clean Install.

I now this is not the way you want to go but it is probably faster than trying to fix the problem. Just backup first.

Yep, in the IT field we give it 10 minutes to try and fix it after that just get the users data and re install, no time to mess around

The corruption found in the system file check is from a bad update, you can uninstall it, or just pay it no mind.

But I would do as advised above, just do a repair install or a clean install.

If all of the PCs/users are using the same default setup (OS & programs) I'd create a backup image using an imaging program like Macrium Reflect (Business version).

It's much quicker to re-image machines than to reinstall the OS and programs.
